- Beachfront site overlooking the islands of Maddalena and Caprera
- Boat trips around the islands of the Maddalena archipelago from Palau
- Direct access to partially pebbly sands for snorkelling and swimming
Make no mistake, this park’s beachfront location on the Costa Smeralda in Sardinia is a verily splendid one indeed.
As well as plenty of off-park sightseeing and activity doing (it’s set between the towns of Palau and Cannigione and near the granite stone formation of Bear Rock), Camping Village Capo d'Orso has a smashing vista out over the islands of Maddalena and Caprera too.
Directly accessible from the site, the beach has plenty of room for lolling around while the tiddlies spend their time crafting sandcastles among the partially pebbly sands, or use it as a base for snorkelling and spying on sea creatures below the surface of the seawater.
Kidlets will also be well amused by the clambering kit over at the playground, and kept entertained by activities and sports tournaments organised by the team that runs the kids’ club; regular music and entertainment shows for littlies and grownups alike take place in the evenings too.
Sporty peeps can play tennis and football on site, and there are plenty of watersports activities are available nearby; Capo d'Orso’s reception team is an exceptionally helpful and friendly one and more than happy to help whenever you need pointers about what to do on site or around the local area.
For on-site eats, the restaurant has an extensive menu and serves up reasonably priced and tremendously tasty pizzas in the evenings, and you can pick up drinks and ice cream over at the beach bar. For self-catering options, the site’s mini market is well stocked and has oodles of choice when it comes to its selection of fresh meats, cheeses, fruit and veg and other bits.
Off site, there are plenty of good places to sample the local gastronomy over in Palau, 10 minutes' drive away, or you can pick up some good value fodder to bring back to base at the budget supermarket there.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). For water-based active days: diving, windsurfing and sailing are available at the many cracking beaches that lie around Camping Village Capo d'Orso.
Hop on a boat trip bound for the Maddalena archipelago from the harbour at Palau for trips around isles such as Spargi, Budelli, Santa Maria, Caprera, and La Maddalena; dive (or bomb) into the emerald waters off Sardinia’s Smeralda coast, or shop for souvenirs and fill up on local gastronomy wherever you land.
If, by some faint chance, you tire of all the boating and watersports activities you’ll get to indulge in around this site’s splendid locale, marks of ancient yesteryear abound around here too: a collection of prehistoric monuments lies outside local town Arzachena, less than 15 kilometres from base, including ancient burial sites and megalithic towers once planted by the Nuragic civilization in a time BC.
And that’s not all the history to be had here: a little further afield (but not too far), there’s the Museo Archeologico in Olbia, a museum set on its own island showcasing region’s history from Greek times onwards.
