  • Direct access to a spectacular beach of fine white sand
  • A few minutes from Smeralda coast
  • Traditional food in the on-site restaurant

The first great thing about this place is that you'll have direct access through a lovely pine forest to a spectacular beach of fine white sand overlooking ancient granite rocks. A mere three-minute promenade takes you from your pitch right to the sea and the site's diving centre, which organises everything from sailing, diving and windsurfing classes to boat excursions for snorkeling classes. Guests can also rent boats or go wakeboarding, banana boating, waterskiing and parasailing from the beach, and not too far away lies a fine spot for fishing at the cliffs.

You can procure all your usual brightly coloured beach bits – inflatables, buckets, spades, snorkels – at the on-site shop, and rent an umbrella and deckchair at the beach upon which to plonk yourself for relaxing days looking out across the waves, keeping your spirits very much up with the odd ice-cool boozy beverage from the bar nearby. For fuel, pack up a picnic or treat yourself to a convenient fast food luncheon of hotdog and chips at the beachfront snack bar.

Next, the on-site eating options: a short walk from the pitches will take you to the site's central square for a self-serve buffet and a pizzeria with a takeaway service; if one fancies dining à la carte, the chef’s specialities include regional dishes such as porcetto, malloreddus and seadas.

Daytime activities and evening entertainment can be found in the square too; during high season, the site's recreation team valiantly fight the good fight against boredom, organising everything from beach volleyball, ping pong, archery, bowls and tennis tournaments to aerobics, Latino and group dance classes, cabaret shows and live music nights. Kids and juniors get to participate in activities like muscle-awakening sessions on the grass, aquagym classes in the sea, and archery and tennis classes in the mornings and baby dance (aww) in the evenings.

Bonus facilities include a hair salon, massage treatments, a beautician service to keep your nails, your barnet and your bod in tiptop condition, as well as tennis courts, a gym, a well-stocked supermarket and a cash point.

Among the sparklingly clean amenities are three big sanitary blocks.

Local attractions

From the beach next to the site you can take a gentle stroll to numerous bays and rockpools, all of which have their own distinctive character and provide a different atmos. The most famed beach of the bunch is Spiaggia della Torre, a splendid bay that's presided over by a striking Saracen tower.

For foodie adventures outside the park, grab some lovely seafood out in Santa Teresa Gallura, which is also a pleasant place for an evening wander to peer at craft stalls and bravely sample the goods in the town's numerous ice cream shops. While you're in this part of the world, a visit to one of the Agriturismo restaurants (set on farmsteads) is a must: heaps of great food, wine and water are usually included in their very reasonably priced set menus.

Some lovely local strolls can be had direct from the campsite or from spots a short drive away. If you decide to hire a car, you can do a day trip from Santa Teresa to the old harbour in Corsica's Saint Boniface on the ferry – the ideal excursion for grownups keen on non-stop shopping, eating out and taking in iconic sights from cinematic history, including The Count of Monte Cristo. You can also drive out to see the local nuraghi (ancient megalithic stone structures typical to Sardinia), a mere 10 minutes' drive away, or a little further afield to the towns of Tempio Pausania, Sassari, Castelsardo and Aglientu.
