Exploring your local surroundings can take many forms around here. Perhaps you’d like to ride horses on the beach with Maneggio di Giancarlo Cabras (20 minutes’ drive), go in search of flamingos in the Capo Spartivento natural park (25 minutes) or see what’s lurking under the sea’s surface on a scuba diving outing from Santa Margherita di Pula (10 minutes). There’s also the chance to get an aerial view from up in the trees at Parco Avventura Pula (10 minutes). This area is littered with history too, most notably the Nora archaeological site (10 minutes), where you can see the remains of a once-prosperous Roman town, including the amphitheatre, baths and various mosaics. You can see more of the artefacts collected there at the archaeology museum in Cagliari (40 minutes) – and while you’re in the city, stop by at the cathedral and Torre dell’Elefante before chilling out on the beach or in the botanic gardens.
