- Serviced motorhome area right by a sandy Puglia beach
- A 10-minute drive to Gallipoli; half an hour to Lecce
- Picnic and barbecue areas on site, plus snack bar; direct beach access
Fancy parking your motorhome somewhere that allows you to stroll to a fantastic beach whenever you fancy it? Campo delle Bandiere, on the Puglia coast about 10 minutes' drive from Gallipoli, is that very place.
This fabulously laidback coastal site is all set up for campervans and motorhomes, with electric and water points at the pitches, which are shaded by the trees of a maritime pine wood. Handy facilities include a snack bar, a washing-up area, a picnic area with barbecue facilities, and a chemical disposal point. Bathrooms have been nicely done too, with accessible facilities and a baby bathroom.
The real highlight here, though, is that beach – a mere couple of minutes' walk through the trees and dunes gets you to Padula Bianca beach, a gorgeously natural sandy stretch with calm, clear water, shade from the trees and a small serviced area with loungers and parasols. This is quite the spot for beach bums, in fact – the sands stretch for a couple of kilometres in either direction (up to Lido Conchiglie in the north and Rivabella in the south), with both free and serviced areas plus plenty of places to find drinks and snacks.

Local attractions
A couple of days simply chilling out by the beach might be all you have in mind for your stay, but it's also very much worth venturing down to the gorgeous town of Gallipoli (10 minutes' drive) for a wander around. The Old Town is on a small island, with a maze of historic streets clustered around the castle and cathedral. The beach at the far end of the island is a popular spot for sunset drinks.
If that's whetted your appetite for urban wanders, try a trip to Lecce (half an hour) too – this gorgeous city is packed with baroque architecture including the stunning facade of the Santa Croce Basilica. There's a lot to enjoy simply strolling through the streets here, but look out for the old city gates and the Roman amphitheatre if you like to focus on bigger sights.
Back over at the coast, there are plenty of ways to amuse yourselves other than lazing on the beach – there are several boat tours and scuba/snorkel operators who can take you out to sea, and some nice walks through the forests of Porto Selvaggio Regional Natural Park (20 minutes), often finishing at a wild beach where you can paddle or swim.
