Potter around Puglia while staying at Brezza Tra Gli Ulivi, a splendid rural site overlooking the gorgeous Mediterannean coast. The sea is rather close to this peaceful farm spot – it’s a 10-minute drive to Bisceglie in one direction and Molfetta in the other. Sit by the swimming pool when you’re not taking in the views of the Torre Calderina area’s coastal scenery and let the scents of the sea and olive trees wash over you as you listen to the chirpy local birdlife in the trees. There’s also a whirlpool to unwind in and a restaurant-pizzeria where you can relax over a typical Puglian meal and/or a fine glass of vino or two. Food can be bought from the local supermarket (about a five-minute drive) if you’re planning to cook over coals (barbecues are allowed on site). The younger members of your travel tribe have a play area to get stuck into while you grill and a kids' club where they can play with the other site ragazzi during the high season. When it comes to getting out and about, Ripalta, the nearest beach, is a 10-minute drive. A handful of archaeological sites, including one of Europe’s most important dolmens, are around the same distance away.

Local attractions

Puglia is located right down at the bottom of the long, slender boot that is Italy. So what better place to pick up a quality pair of footwear, perhaps at a bargain price? Brezza Tra Gli Ulivi is a five-minute drive from Puglia Outlet Village, where designer goods are sold along local products (many of which have the additional bonus of being rather tasty). Ready to strut your (newly bought) stuff during an evening passeggiata? Head to Molfetta (10 minutes) for strolls along the seafront or round the well-preserved town centre. Bisceglie's pleasure port and grandiose Ammazzalorsa palace (both 10 minutes) make quite the backdrop too. If your gang is calling out for more rural spots, take them down to inspect the Dolmen of Chianca Carrara (one of the most archaeologically significant in all of Europe), or admire the Pulo di Molfetta, a sinkhole that it's probably best to survey from a safe distance. For next-level landscapes, though, you’ll want to make the trip to the spectacular coastline of Gargano National Park (an hour).
