The spectacular coastline south of Bari (half an hour’s drive) is yours to explore when you stay at Shangri-La Glamping. This peaceful site might be in Puglia’s countryside, but it is also 10 minutes’ drive from Polignano a Mare, a small town dramatically perched on limestone cliffs.
Accommodation is in a large (35 square metres) and tall (three metres) geodesic tent set among a centuries-old olive grove. Raised from the ground and constructed out of eucalyptus and mahogany wood, the tent includes such luxury touches as a real double bed with a mosquito net (plus a double air mattress), plenty of storage, a kitchen corner with fridge, kettle and coffee machine, and a private bathroom with an emotional shower.
The tent is also equipped with a sophisticated ventilation system, air conditioning and an insulating cotton layer, all of which contribute to making it comfortable in every season. Large transparent PVC windows make it possible to admire the traditional trullo (a typical stone structure) in the grounds and the Adriatic Sea, with its splendid sunrises.
On-site facilities include an outdoor pool, a fitness area and a bike-hire service. Being on two wheels will make it easy to reach popular beaches without having to stress about parking. Both San Vito Beach, with its rock pools, and Polignano a Mare’s small Lama Monachile cove are a 15-minute bike ride away.
