Whether you’re on the way overseas by ferry, or looking to settle down for a few days to explore lovely Apulia, you’ll be looking for somewhere safe to park up at night. That place is Daniele Parcheggio Sosta Camper, which offers 24-hour security on compact pitches with electric hook-ups. The site is easy to access, being 10 minutes’ drive from the Bitonto motorway exit and close to ring roads leading out into Apulian countryside. It’s also near the ferry port in Bari (20 minutes’ drive), with its direct services to Dubrovnik in Croatia or Durrës in Albania. Basic facilities on site include a toilet block, charging services and recycling. Barbecues are permitted, and there are a couple of pizzerias, tempting cake shops and a supermarket within around 10 minutes’ walk. The nearest beach is at Lido Moretti (25 minutes’ walk). The site owners also operate a free service to and from Bari International Airport-Karol Wojtyla (10 minutes) and the railway station at Bari Centrale (25 minutes).

Start any exploration of the gorgeous city of Bari (20 minutes’ drive) admiring the ornate interior of the Romanesque Basilica di San Nicola before checking out Renaissance-era Palazzo Simi and its subterranean foundations. Spend time wandering Bari Vecchia old town, crammed full of mellow-stone Baroque churches, cobbled piazzas and cosy little trattorias, and wind up the day with an evening stroll down the seafront Lungomare. Should you want to get the hiking boots or cycling helmets on, Alta Murgia National Park (40 minutes) is the place for you. You can stretch your muscles on steep climbs up conical hills swathed in forest, or head for Castel del Monte (45 minutes) for a rest from physical exertion as you take a guided tour of the landmark 13th-century castle sitting on its hilltop. If you’d rather stick closer to home base, the small seaside fishing village of Santo Spirito (five minutes) has a pretty marina to stroll around, as well as lots of seafood restaurants to hunker down in after a day at one of the lidos on the beach.

Liked Eigentümer/Angestellte waren freundlich.

Disliked Der Platz war etwas schwer zu finden. Der Betrieb läuft wohl auch unter dem Namen Daquino Parking, ein Gelände etwas außerhalb auf dem Fahrzeuge gewaschen und gereinigt werden. Uns wurde ein freier Stellplatz inmitten abgestellter Fahrzeuge (keine Camper) zugewiesen. Die Stellplatzfläche war nicht größer als ein gewöhnlicher Parkplatz.
Von einer Reservierung und Anzahlung wusste keiner etwas, ich habe als Nachweis das entsprechende Bestätigungsmail von Pitchup gezeigt. Der "Parkplatz" inkl. Strom sollte € 25,- Nacht kosten. Trotz € 6,- Anzahlung haben wir es nach 30 Minuten vorgezogen, unsere Fahrt fortzusetzen, was uns während unserer vielen Reisen noch nie passiert ist. In dieser Umgebung wollten wir nicht bleiben.

Liked Proximity to Bari ferry port, about 20 minutes

Disliked No signage!
Toilet facilities were poor.
Too many security lights.
Despite having booked and paid 3 euros they had no idea we were coming and quoted 25 euros for the overnight stay!
It’s not really a campsite at all!
