- Well-equipped safari tent with hot tub at at Marche agriturismo
- Ascoli Piceno and sandy beaches within a half-hour drive
- Wine tasting and yoga sessions available; outdoor pool on site
Time to slow down and take it easy for a while? Make your way up into the Marche hills for a stay in the splendid safari tent at Glamping Alessia. This site is part of an agriturismo business in an attractive location about half an hour’s drive from Ascoli Piceno, and it makes a wonderful spot for a quiet rural break with your family or your other half (or just your dog).
Your accommodation here is in a smart safari tent that’s been strategically positioned to make the most of the view out over the hills. It’s got two cosy bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and a stylish modern bathroom. It’s also been kitted out with both heating and air conditioning to keep the temperature just right in all weathers.
With any luck, the weather will be amenable to you spending plenty of time outside, relaxing with a drink on your deck, cooking a meal on the barbecue or having a soak in the private hot tub by the tent. You can also take a stroll around the property’s vineyards and orchards or have a swim in the shared outdoor pool.
You’re very welcome to cosy up here and keep to yourselves, but if you’re feeling a bit sociable you can join in with wine tasting sessions at the site’s winery, help with harvesting veg and sowing seeds, or join fellow guests for poolside aperitifs while music plays in the early evening. The agriturismo also offers yoga sessions for a bit of extra relaxation.

Local attractions
Getting to know the area starts on site, where you can visit the award-winning Tenuta Spinelli winery for a tour and tasting, and visit the apiaries and honey laboratory for an insight into beekeeping and honey production. Walks in the surrounding area may take you to more wineries and places to eat; for more extensive hikes and other activities (horse riding, rafting and mountain biking among them) you can always head into the Sibillini Mountains National Park (45 minutes’ drive).
Several of the area’s towns and villages are worth visiting – start in Castignano (10 minutes), known for its medieval reenactment festival, before going on to Offida (10 minutes), Acquaviva Picena (20 minutes) and Ripatransone (20 minutes). All have historic buildings to explore and some nice places to eat – and Ripatransone is also home to a sweet little Barbie museum.
For other days out, spend some time wandering around the elegant streets of Ascoli Piceno (half an hour) – and sampling its famous olives – or head to the coast for some beach time and seafood meals in either Grottammare Alta (25 minutes) or San Benedetto del Tronto (half an hour).
