If you’re off to the Ancona coast for a seaside holiday, well, you want to be as close as possible to the beach, right? Stay at L’Oasi di Lulù and you’ll be only about 300 metres from Marzocca’s beach – that means it’s only about five minutes’ walk from pitch to paddling in the sea (and there’s access via a convenient underpass too, so you can avoid any road crossing if you like…) This is a great beach to be close to – it stretches out for several kilometres, so there’s plenty of space for both serviced and free areas. It’s a family-friendly place too, with slowly shelving shallow water along the shoreline that’s great for kids to paddle or swim in. Several restaurants and cafés are scattered along the shoreline, so you’ll be able to pick up snacks, drinks and meals to keep you going on a beach day. Life on site tends to be pretty peaceful, as the location is a little way away from Marzocca’s town centre (which is about a kilometre away when you want to hit the shops or find more places to eat) and livelier Senigallia (about 20 minutes away by car, bike or public transport). All pitches have an electric hookup (available for an extra fee) and have access to two bathroom blocks with coin-operated showers. In a bid to keep all ages happy, the site has a playground with swings, a slide and a trampoline to amuse the kids, and a bar where the grownups can source themselves a well-earned cool beer.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.
  • Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
  • The site only allows dogs up to 8kg.
  • No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
  • A cable measuring at least 25 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Disliked: Odore forte di fogna, bagni sporchi, piazzole piccole e non ombreggiate, su terra e qualche ciuffo d erba. Per arrivare in spiaggia bisogna attraversare la nazionale e, come noi, che abbiamo un bimbo di 6 mesi col passeggino non è il massimo. Spiaggia con ciccioli, non adatta ai più piccolini.

Liked: Ci siamo trovati bene e questo grazie alla gentilezza e disponibilità di chi ci lavora che ci hanno reso la nostra prima esperienza in campeggio favolosa. A due passi dal mare, sia lidi che spiagge libere. Bagni nel camping sempre puliti, cosa che non è per nulla scontata.

Liked: Il campeggio è molto tranquillo e vicino alla spiaggia: la posizione è ottima! Ci sono nei paraggi anche un supermercato, una farmacia e un negozio di casalinghi. I servizi erano nel complesso puliti e in ordine. Il personale è molto cordiale.

Disliked: All’interno c’è un piccolissimo bar, la cui gestione è affidata il più delle volte ad una bambina che, a volte, fa fatica a stare dietro alle richieste. I bagni erano puliti e ordinati ma, a un certo punto, per circa una giornata e mezza non sono stati mai puliti: i cestini erano stracolmi e i servizi, soprattutto quegli degli uomini, necessitavano di essere igienizzati. Al di là di questa breve parentesi, comunque, i servizi sono sempre stati puliti. Altra nota dolente riguarda le docce: per fare la doccia è necessario un gettone che costa 50 centesimi e il tempo massimo di uso della doccia è di due minuti e mezzo. Per lavarsi i capelli e tutto il corpo bisogna davvero velocizzarsi perché, appunto, l’acqua è a disposizione solo per questo breve tempo.

Local attractions

Once you’ve had a bit of a swim/sunbathe/stroll at your local patch of beach, perhaps it’s time to set off to see a bit more of this stretch of coastline. A good place to start is Senigallia (20 minutes’ drive/bus ride), which is famed for its ‘Velvet’ beach (so called because of the lovely golden sand). The Rotonda a Mare, Chiesa della Croce and 15th-century Rocca Roveresca are all worth visiting too while you’re in town. Heading in the other direction, Ancona (half an hour’s drive/bus ride) has more grand buildings to seek out, including the cathedral and Roman amphitheatre, as well as an archaeological museum. It’s also the ferry port for services to Greece, Croatia and Albania; if you’re not planning to travel quite that far, maybe head to the lovely beach of Portonovo (40 minutes’ drive) instead. Away from the coast, there are caves to explore at Grotte di Osimo (35 minutes), animals to meet at Parco Zoo Falconara (15 minutes) and several wineries to wander around.
