Sometimes all you need is a lift… and there's a famed one not far from here: Genoa's Bigo elevator, designed by Renzo Piano. But the other kind of lift is just as valuable when you're heading down to the beach, laden with buckets and inflatables and over-eager kids, or coming back with sand in everything… hurrah then to the folk at this fine site in Liguria, for laying on a free shuttle bus. And there's yet more. The friendly Eurocamping Calvisio team won't just ferry you down to the beach, they'll also take you up into the hills with your mountain bikes (or hire you one, if you want). Everything is well thought out on site too, from the layout of the two pools (kids', adults' and Jacuzzi) to the shop, bar, restaurant and the activities and entertainments laid on for guests of all ages. You could spend your whole holiday here… The site is close to Italy's northern coast and the valleys of Finale Ligure. If you do want to roam further afield, it's a five-minute drive or 20 minutes' walk into Finale Ligure for shops, eats, beachfront bars and watersports. Dogs are welcome on Finale Ligure's beach, as they are at the site, so it's waggy tails all round.

Liked Great location, most of the main pitches have own wash rooms and lots of shade which is great to keep tents cool in summer heat. Also big pitches. These however are booked up early in the year. Small shop is adequate for bread and milk and water. Pool lovely and a small toddler pool with life guard. Easy walk into town or you can use the bus. Great location for exploring coast.

Disliked Staff moody/surely/unhelpful. Booked a 6.5 x 3.5 m pitch got one barely 4m in length no shade and next to teenager play area. So check which pitches before buying. And check you have shade if with family. As car didn’t fit on pitch asked to park in car park and then at end of stay Charged 50 euros! Also booking error meant was asked to leave day early as they were double booked. Admin, organisation and customer service clearly lacking but small site. Gravel pitches but fine

Disliked Very tight, too close to other guests, pitches not separated from each other.

Liked Het grote, koele en zwembad met duikplank, voldoende ligbedden en parasols. Ook het sportterrein is ruim en uiteenlopend.
Heel gezellig en lekker restaurant.

Disliked Het amateuristisch animatieteam. Het vele nachtlawaai. Tot 12u vollebak muziek en lawaaierige gasten. En om 4u30 kraait er heel de tijd een haan en om 8u luiden de klokken 10 minuten lang en start alle lawaai op de camping.

Disliked V reštaurácii boli zamračené čašníčky. Boxi boli príliš blízko seba. V noci robili ľudia párty.

Liked Simone. Deze meneer denkt met je mee. Ik had een plek met stroom. Helaas had ik geen adapter om het stroom te gebruiken. Simone heeft gezocht voor mij en is persoonlijk naar onze plek gegaan. Helaas was de market dicht. En kon hij nergens een adapter regelen. Hij heeft zijn best gedaan terwijl dit niet had gehoeven. Ik bedankte hem voor de moeite. Daarna belde hij mij om te zeggen dat ik aan de Bar mensen kon vragen of zij iets konden betekenen voor mij. Ik liep naar de bar en vroeg om zo een adapter. Zeer vriendelijk werd ik geholpen. Ze hebben een nieuwe adapter geregeld voor me. Top service!

Liked Pulizia, posizione e infrastrutture in generale.
In generale tutto ok, bagnini e negozio personale molto gentile.

Disliked -orari di silenzio non rispettati e controllati.
- entrata di nuovi campeggiatori dopo le 24.00 con relativi rumori di spacchettaggio anche fino alle 01.20, non dormi più.
-un qualche buongiorno o saluto in più non guasterebbe, specialmente nel ristorante dove si imponeva il tavolo che volevano loro malgrado che sia stato l’obero tutto il tempo della nostra presenza.
In generale hanno fatto tutto nella maniera corretta ma con poco cuore.

Local attractions

Finale Ligure is also home to an archaeological museum that reconstructs the story of the area from prehistoric times through the Roman era to the present day. It's a good family-friendly overview before you head off to see the prehistoric caves of Toirano (half an hour's drive), where bear bones share the vast caverns with human handprints… or for a couple of hours at the ninth-century castle of Rocca Barbena (50 minutes). For walks through the surrounding hills, footpaths up to the sixth-century ruins of Perti and the rock climbing hubs of Placca delle Case Valle and Monte Sordo start five minutes' walk from the site. For easier coastal jaunts, walk through the hills to the handsome old village of Verezzi (25 minutes by car); drop into the richly coloured cave system with its underground lakes, then descend to the sea at Borgio (15 minutes) for a well-earned ice cream and a swim. Those who want to make more of splash can do it on the flumes and slides at Parco Aquatico Le Caravelle (40 minutes). An hour away by car, Genoa is supremely doable for day trips wandering the posh palazzi and galleries of the Via Garibaldi, sampling the freshest seafood by the pebble beach at Boccadasse and riding in Renzo Piano's 40-metre Bigo elevator/crane ride for cracking panoramas of city and coastline.
