Make your way to Camping Mare Monti for carefree holidays with some splendid views over the spectacular northern Italian coast. Up on top of a hill in Liguria with far-reaching vistas, this site makes a fine base for getting out to explore regional beauty spots like Cinque Terre, Portofino and Portovenere, all of which are within an hour and a quarter's drive.
And you can mix that sightseeing up with proper seaside time too… In summer, a free shuttle bus runs to the nearest beach in Riva Trigoso (although at under three kilometres away, it's perfectly possible to walk or cycle it too if you prefer). If you don't mind travelling a little further, there's a choice of free sand and pebble beaches along the Tigullio Gulf within a half-hour drive as well.
Back on site, you can cool off at the outdoor swimming pool and paddling pool, which are open throughout the summer season. There’s always something to do in high season, with plenty of entertainment for all the family, from a kids’ club to sports activities, and disco nights or cabaret evenings after dark. If you’re eating on site, pick up supplies in the campsite’s small food shop or Sestri Levante’s supermarkets; there are plenty of bars and restaurants in town too if you fancy a night out.
Facilities include all the basics like toilets and hot showers, as well as a laundry service and a free wifi connection.

Liked Emplacement agréable, bloc sanitaire refait à neuf et douches bien agréables.
La machine à laver et le seche linge sont vraiment un plus.

Route directions
On the A12, take the exit signposted Sestri Levante. Continue on this road. When you reach the second roundabout, take the third exit signposted La Spezia and follow the directions for Trigoso. Cross the town of Trigoso and continue towards Bracco. Camping Mare Monti is the third campsite on this road.
If you are planning to travel by train, travel to Riva Trigoso or Sestri Levante. Buses from both stations run past the campsite.

Local attractions
If you head up to Punta Manara viewpoint from the campsite (an hour and 10 minutes’ walk), you can see the whole of the Ligurian Riviera from Levanto to Portofino. There are other spectacular views of the coastline from the Rapallo cable car (25 minutes’ drive).
Down on the coast, Sestri Levante (five minutes’ drive) is a gorgeous seafront town, with a historic heart that's ripe for poking around winding streets and sourcing the best gelato cafés – or maybe just hanging out on Baia del Silenzio beach.
The harbourside towns of Cinque Terre (from 45 minutes) should be high up on your to-do list too, with multi-coloured houses, clifftop hikes and plenty of alfresco seafood restaurants for lazy afternoons. As well as posh shops and dining, chic little Portofino (40 minutes) has got lots going for it too, with scuba in Portofino Marine Protected Area (50 minutes) and outdoor sculpture at Museo del Parco (40 minutes).
