The spectacular seafront setting of Camping Internazionale Castelfusano means you can have both: it's slap bang opposite a big sandy beach, and only 25 kilometres from the fab old piles and centuries of history of Rome. Campeggio Internazionale Castelfusano is three kilometres from the town of Ostia, under an hour from Rome by public transport. Base yourself here for beach days and city sightseeing, wildlife wanders in the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast next door, and proximity to sailing, horse riding, tennis and scuba diving, all within five kilometres. The site runs a kids' club in summer with activities such as crafts and juggling, alongside evening entertainment for all including live music and theme dinners. There's a pool and a playground, a TV room and table tennis, and a bar, restaurant and mini market. Among the amenities are a launderette with washing machines and tumble dryers; a washing-up area, and three washrooms with toilets and free hot showers. Barbecues are allowed and gas cylinders are available for sale.

Liked The location for Rome is great. Just a bus then metro , you can buy tickets at reception. The showers and toilets are clean. The pitches are big enough. The electric is extra.there is a good market shop.Close to the beach.

Disliked WiFi is only available at reception and the restaurant. Shame.

Liked We have liked this campsite so much we have booked an extra 4 nights and we are still here. Hot power showers and facilities all good. Staff very friendly and helpful. A sandy beach literally across the road from us. Sunbeds at €6 each. Great bar and restaurant and the shop is better than expected for a campsite. We love it here and 24 miles from Rome city centre. 5 star from us 😊

Local attractions

In between all those days in Rome, explore the local coastline and its beaches, the wildlife areas and heaps of other old sites and ruins in the region. Sailing, horse riding, tennis and scuba diving will keep you busy in and out of the water within five kilometres of the site. Next to Campeggio Internazionale Castelfusano is the State Natural Reserve of the Roman Coast, covering almost 16,000 hectares including the last section of the Tiber and the mouth of the Arrone river, in an area of dunes and villages, archaeological remains and pinewoods. The ruins of Ostia Antica and the Castle of Julius II are within the reserve, 10 kilometres from base. Rome, 25 kilometres away, has enough old sights (the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain and St Peter's Basilica for starters) to keep you geekily occupied for yonks, but if you yearn for yet more, a good day trip is to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este, 50 kilometres away at Tivoli. Less culturally but most amusedly, the Zoo Marine amusement park and Rainbow Magicland theme park are 10 and 40 kilometres away.
