hu Roma Camping in Town: The pool, surrounded by a solarium

General

  • 6.5 kilometres from the Colosseum, the Vatican and Rome's city centre
  • Easy access to Colle Palatino and Ostia Antica
  • Outdoor pool, restaurant and terrace pool bar open until 2am

When in Rome, stay at Roma Camping in Town...? Because apart from splendid facilities such as a big outdoor pool and hydromassage, a restaurant and a poolside bar terrace that's open until 2am, this is the closest accommodation of its kind to Rome's historic centre.

It's a young and lively environment here, with staff happy to help and to recommend local tours and attractions. Exploring is made mighty easy too by the site's handy shuttle service, running pretty much hourly in each direction throughout the day; you can be at Rome's Cipro metro station, around six kilometres away, in 20 minutes or so.

On site, cool off in the pool and follow up with a couple of well-earned cold ones at Ciao Bella pool bar. The restaurant serves up eats like salad, pizza and pasta (natch), and you can get breakfast there to set yourself up for your days of Rome sightseeing. The local supermarket just across the road (accessed via a footbridge) is stocked with piles of fab produce and an excellent butcher's counter. If you want to eat off site but don't want to wander too far, there's a fast food place and a restaurant here too.

Other leisure facilities include a playground area and ping pong and pool tables. Free wifi is available in the communal areas.

Roma Camping in Town also has a launderette and a bureau de change.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 31/10 (subject to weather conditions).

The restaurant is open between 15/03 and 31/10.

The grocery shop is open between 15/03 and 31/10.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Hu Camping is a lovely site with a swimming pool and great restaurant. We stayed 5 nights and our son loved spending time in the pool whie I had a few beers at the pool bar. We ate in the restaurant one night and service was good and the food lovely. Transport into Rome is easy via public bus to Cornelia metro (about 15 min bus ride) and then on the metro it's about 20 mins to Termini station.

We used the 100min travel card at €1.50 to get to Rome and then walked around and used another 100 min card to return. The card can be used on both bus and train.

The info centre was great for maps and helpful information about places to see and eat.

The facilities were clean, although men's toilets and showers are currently closed with potacabin loos and showers replaced them.

Supermarket is across the road (accessed via a overpass) aswell as an onsite minimarket.

Would recommend this site as a base for exploring Rome.

Location. Cleanliness. Good value shop that was well stocked.

    Disliked:

Shop opening hours were very limited. Poolside food and drink was expensive, even allowing for paying a premium at the pool.

Great site and perfect location for visiting Rome or just chilling out18/07/2023

This site is ideally located for accessing the centre of Rome by catching a bus and the Metro taking a total of 30 mins (or so) - longer at weekends due to less services running. The site has great facilities and a pool which is okay but can get extremely busy especially with teenagers and children. There is limited seating around the pool so either get there early or look for limited free sun beds! Food on site was good and average priced. There is a supermarket directly opposite the site which is great for provisions of all kinds - especially those with campervans or those who wish to cook for themselves. The accommodation on site looked okay but we stayed on a camper pitch. Men’s showers and toilets were undergoing refurb so current facilities are okay - women’s facilities were fine. Otherwise perfect site.

    Disliked:

Saturday night had a bar party which went on until 01.30/02.00 which was quite loud but can fully understand that there are varying age groups on site that need to be catered for.
