General

  • 6.5 kilometres from the Colosseum, the Vatican and Rome's city centre
  • Easy access to Colle Palatino and Ostia Antica
  • Outdoor pool, restaurant and terrace pool bar open until 2am

When in Rome, stay at Roma Camping in Town...? Because apart from splendid facilities such as a big outdoor pool and hydromassage, a restaurant and a poolside bar terrace that's open until 2am, this is the closest accommodation of its kind to Rome's historic centre.

It's a young and lively environment here, with staff happy to help and to recommend local tours and attractions. Exploring is made mighty easy too by the site's handy shuttle service, running pretty much hourly in each direction throughout the day; you can be at Rome's Cipro metro station, around six kilometres away, in 20 minutes or so.

On site, cool off in the pool and follow up with a couple of well-earned cold ones at Ciao Bella pool bar. The restaurant serves up eats like salad, pizza and pasta (natch), and you can get breakfast there to set yourself up for your days of Rome sightseeing. The local supermarket just across the road (accessed via a footbridge) is stocked with piles of fab produce and an excellent butcher's counter. If you want to eat off site but don't want to wander too far, there's a fast food place and a restaurant here too.

Other leisure facilities include a playground area and ping pong and pool tables. Free wifi is available in the communal areas.

Roma Camping in Town also has a launderette and a bureau de change.

Please note

The grocery shop is open between 15/03 and 31/10.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 01/05 and 31/10 (subject to weather conditions).

The restaurant is open between 15/03 and 31/10.

    Facilities clean.

Despite booking confirmation stating restaurant/bar closed until mid March, a party was held on a Monday night well into the early hours of Tuesday morning. We phoned the number provided but were told there was no party happening. Can’t believe they couldn’t hear it through the phone. Discussed with other campers on Tuesday morning and they were also unhappy. Asked for a refund due to limited hours of sleep but was refused.

Also, purchased bus tickets on a day there was a public transport strike but no mention was made of this. Feel this is something they should have been aware of.

    Check in process too slow.

Great restaurant - good fun and very reasonable prices. Facilities are fantastic and exceptionally clean. Safety deposit boxes, which is a real bonus when you're camping. There is a supermarket on the other side of the road which can be reached via the footbridge over the road - very safe and very convenient. You can purchase tickets for the bus and metro from Reception, which will take you straight into Rome. The bus stops right outside the site and the whole thing only takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Great pool and the best childrens' bathroom I have ever seen!

    Disliked:

Was a little noisy on Saturday evening, but we were pitched quite close to the bar. If we stayed there again I would ask for a pitch a little further away.

Location was on bus route into the city. Ample space between pitches. Lots of toilets and showers which were all really clean and in very good condition. Reception staff helpful when you eventually reached the front of the queue to speak to them.

    Disliked:

The useful location means it's really close to a main road so there was traffic noise and regular emergency sirens. We had a pitch a pitch as far away from that as possible so weren't affected. If we had been closer to the road it may have been a nuisance. On arrival they have a numbered ticket queue system for checking in. We were there half an hour which after a long drive was frustrating. Once we we reached the desk the staff were very helpful with maps and information about transport.

A lovely well kept site. Pool was great and food was good too and fairly reasonable prices. Toilets and showers were clean and free and had toilet roll! Very easy to get to the tourist sites in Rome using public transport.

    Disliked:

Lack of water points for camping only found one at reception which was a long way from our pitch and emptying the bins very noisily at 06.15 every morning!
