There's a corker of a restaurant at family-run Agricampeggio Fratelli Mizzon in Lazio's Latina province. Sit yourself down here for a full evening's worth of top Mediterranean cuisine and tastes including fresh meat and game, fish and seafood, seasonal fruit, pizzas, regional and national wines… (And as savvy travellers know, anywhere the locals are dining is likely to be a pretty smart supper choice.) It's a corker of a setting here too, as Fratelli Mizzon is only a kilometre from the coastal town and sands of Sabaudia, and is surrounded by the splendid Circeo National Park, stretching for over 31 kilometres between Capo Portiere and San Felice Circeo. This is a rural campsite surrounded by countryside, but with easy access to kilometres' worth of sandy Italian beaches, so do get prepped for many a day out exploring the Latina countryside. Essentials on site are covered as thoroughly as the eats, with a spacious toilet and shower block, a washing-up area and a picnic area.

Local attractions

One could most certainly stick to the coast and waters around Agricampeggio Fratelli Mizzon, as it's a short drive or bus ride to Sabaudia and its 15km of spectacular beaches and the coastline's sand dunes. (While you're in Sabaudia, go and have a look at its rather special post office…) Another most recommended option in the area is Circeo National Park, set along the Tyrrhenian coast of southern Lazio between between Capo Portiere and San Felice Circeo. Like you'd expect in a park of these parts, it's filled with splendid scenery as well a many species of birds and animals to see, but there are also over a hundred archaeological sites, many open to the public. The city of Latina, the province's capital, lies within the national park and is the biggest city in the region after Rome. Sights to see include the The Church of San Marco, Torre Pontina and, possibly for a picnic, the clear fountain of the Piazza del Popolo. Rome is around 90 minutes' drive away.
