They’re a generous bunch at Emilia-Romagna site Spina Camping Village, as you can tell when you start to peruse the numbers. For starters, it’s worth looking at the pleasing amount of space here – the site is stretched out over a fab 24 hectares of pine forest within the Po Delta Regional Park, a short stroll from an Adriatic Sea beach and 15 minutes’ drive from Comacchio. And they’ve had a generous approach when it comes to setting up the facilities too – this is a place where you can get stuck into games of pétanque, volleyball, beach volleyball or tennis, hit the skating area or settle down to steam in the sauna. Kids, meanwhile, have been well supplied with play areas and bouncy castles to tire them out. All this is before you’ve even got to the sizeable aquatic area, which covers 650 square metres’ worth of pools, slides and sunbathing terraces with deckchairs and parasols available for rent. Even the TV at the pool bar is a big one: most handy for gathering around major sporting occasions. (Don’t forget to bring your swimming cap – they’re compulsory for entry to the pools, which are open in the warmer months, weather permitting.) It won’t surprise you at all, presumably, to know that the food provision is equally generous: take your pick from a quick bite at the snack bar or a meal at the restaurant, open in high season and specialising in fish dishes like local eels. Also available in the warmer months are a convenience shop, bread delivery, a newsagents and a fruit and veg shop; bikes, TVs and safes are for hire all year round.

Liked We loved the pools, which were clean and fun for the kids and parents to swim in. The tent was in a shady area very close to the shower block, which was convenient.
The shop opening hours were good, even with afternoon closing, early opening at least.
Kids also loved the arcade, especially the claw machines and little machines they could get tattoos and other little things from. We didn't go to the kids' club but it looked good.

We did decide to do the adventure climbing with the kids and that was brilliant, they loved it and learnt so much that day.

Disliked The food was expensive and pretty dire, so we didn't eat on the site after the first day. We were made to wait over an hour for our food after arriving around 8pm, and then not only was the service terrible, but it was super expensive and not so tasty. Shame really, as it was the only restaurant on site, not counting the beach bar, which isn't that accessible.

The mosquitoes were a nightmare, but they tried to combat these with the sprays around the pool and stage, which helped a little. At the tent it was pretty bad, but I know nothing can be done about that.

The noise of the nightly show was also too loud. It wasn't necessary to be quite that loud, as it was even worse at the stage. Maybe tone the volume down a little, the noise itself until midnight wasn't the issue so much.

We also asked reception to get rid of a dead bird right by our tent and they didn't do it in the last two days that we were there, which is a shame. The flies were pretty bad around the dead bird, especially in that heat.

Super patchy wifi to nonexistent.

Liked Ein Paradies für Kinder und Hunde. Auf diesem Campingplatz wird alles geboten.
Shittlezug zum Strand den ganzen Tag. Poolanimation, Rutschen, Baby Wasserspaß usw. Sogar der Hund darf in einen separaten Abteil mit zum Pool. Klettergarten auch schon für Kleine. Hundezone mit Agility, Hundepool zum mieten. Der Hund darf auch mit ins Restaurant. Also wirklich perfekt für Familien mit Hund. Spielehalle und Mini Lunapark mit Schießstand, Enten fischen, Elektro Fahrzeuge, Trampolin usw. gibt es auch noch.

Disliked Die verschiedenen Zahlungsarten sind verwirrend. An der Bar darf man mit Karte zahlen oder Bar, bei dem Restaurant nur Karte usw. Sollte ein bisschen einheitlicher sein. Auch gibt es keinen Bankomat am Campingplatz. das einzige was extrem nervig war, ist das Wlan war katastrophal. Kein Empfang.

First stop on any seaside stay is surely the beach, and that’s a straightforward outing here – simply jump on the free shuttle to the nearest stretch of sand or take the five-minute drive up to Lido di Spina for a long beach flanked by bars, cafés and clubs. Next on the tick list around here should be the wildlife-packed Po Delta Park: you may well spot some birds flitting about at the lake areas by the site but the best chance of encounters comes from a trip to the birdwatching tower 15 minutes’ drive away. Some urban time in your plans? Try a trip to the canals of Comacchio (15 minutes’ drive), explore the gorgeous mosaics in Ravenna (half an hour) or stroll around the cobbled streets, cathedral and castle of Ferrara (50 minutes). If you’re short on time, cram in as much of the country as you can with a trip round the Italy in Miniature theme park (an hour).
