  • Peaceful clifftop site with stunning views over the Amalfi Coast
  • A five-minute drive from Maiori, 20 from Amalfi and 30 from Ravello
  • Private beach access, barbecue areas, sunbathing terrace and food shop
Reckon you could name a better way to experience one of Italy’s finest seaside destinations than by peering at panoramas over the cliffs of Bella Baia Relais? Answers on a postcard, please – if you can find the time to send one with all those truly terrific views to stare at. Finding space on the itinerary’s also bound to be a stretch with all the swimming sessions to be had here. This Salerno site’s set among a series of terraced gardens a few steps away from a couple of private trails leading down to the water's edge. Reach Cavallo Morto, a secluded bay only accessible by roaming over rocks for about 10 metres and then swishing through the water for another 30 metres, or descend to the sea via a set of steps cut into the cliffside and a ladder. Your new home from home’s also a five-minute drive from Maiori, so whether you want to head off to Amalfi (20 minutes), roam around Ravello (30 minutes) or mosey to Maiori’s tourist port with the aim of sailing to Positano, Capri and Sorrento, this park’s a centrally positioned pick. Or are you happy to hunker down on base without moving too much? The peaceful vibes mean it’s a stellar spot for disconnecting from daily life. Start mornings slow with a barbecued breakfast, then fall asleep under the trees amid Mediterranean greenery while listening to the sound of the waves lapping the rocks below. And if you’re more of an explorer than an idler, this site’s possible to reach on a bus that stops around 20 metres from the entrance. Just make sure to tell the driver to drop you off at ‘Cannaverde’.

Local attractions

A couple of facts about Maiori (five minutes’ drive), your local town during a stay at this site: it’s been a sought-after spot since the Roman era and has the longest unbroken beach on the Amalfi Coast. Meander over here for sessions on the sand or to kick off a hike along the Path of the Lemons, a trail winding towards Minori through citrus fruit groves. Trekkers might like to select a section of the path that leads all the way to Ravello (30 minutes’ drive), while those who don’t have the legs for such a stroll could just drive to this popular resort and have a shorter shuffle through Villa Cimbrone's flora-filled gardens. Closer by is Amalfi – rock up here to see those well-known views of pastel-coloured houses spread across the seaside. Drop by the middle of town too for a glimpse at the striped front of the Sant'Andrea cathedral or to mosey about the Museo Arsenale Amalfi, an old shipyard transformed into an exhibition centre.

Electric grass and earth tent pitch (no cars)

Liked: The place is amazing. Good facilities with fully equipped kitchen. Wonderful view and quiet. Away from all the tourists. It takes about 20 min to walk to Maiori. The “beach”

Disliked: It would have been good with some snacks in the little “shop” It can be a bit difficult to get in the sea if you don’t like to jump in.

Electric grass and earth tent pitch (no cars)

Electric grass and earth tent pitch (no cars)

Liked: Ho viaggiato in solitaria con tenda. Esperienza bellissima.
