Spend long and peaceful days at Campingpark Ohmbachsee, a quiet site in the grounds of the Jungfleisch estate in Rhineland-Palatinate. Away from traffic noise, it's only 300 metres (a five-minute walk) from the shores of the Ohmbachsee, a lake with hiking and cycling paths. From here, you can drive into the peaks, meadows, fields and forest of the Palatinate mountains in an hour or so, and then return to the estate's restaurant for some delicious food. Boat hire and fishing are available at the nearby Ohmbachsee, and there is also a tennis court opposite the site. The location is only 10 minutes from the autobahn, so there’s easy access from other parts of Germany as well as France and Luxembourg. And when you're on site? The site has a ping pong table, and kids have their own space over at the playground. There's a pool open during high season for swimming, and if any of these activities make you thirsty, occasionally (depending upon the time of year), there are drinks and ice cream available to order. You're welcome to pre-order breakfast and bread on site if you get peckish in the mornings too. Toilet blocks are furnished with showers, toilets and disabled-access facilities. If you’d like to have a really long soak in the bath, treat yourself to the luxury of hiring a private bathroom (minimum hire two days – although spending all that time in the bath is not recommended).

Liked Good size pitches on level ground, easy access to power and water, good showers and toilets (very hot water)

Disliked Could be more inviting around the pool area, there appeared to be a fair bit of litter around.
Also the hotel didn’t seem to offer food, only snacks and some bread

Okay for one night but very run down camp site overall and not clean.

Liked The guy on reception was very friendly and very nice and the location was nice for one night. We cycled around the lake, which has a children’s play area and we cycled to Netto for some basic supplies.

Disliked The camp site is quite run down; the reception area is a bit of a mess, the children’s play park is covered in rubbish, empty bottles and the pool whilst necessary to cool down from the hot sun was dirty and the broken pool net for fishing out dirt was broken and abandoned on the floor. There were no toilets by the pool area and the pitches were very hot with no shade and very dusty.

Liked Ich beschreibe es als einen Ort der Ruhe. Sowohl ich als auch meine Familie haben die Umgebung und den Ort, an dem wir unser Zelt aufgeschlagen haben, genossen. Ein idealer Ort, um sozusagen zurückzukehren. Schon am Eingang wurde ich von den Verantwortlichen dieses gepflegten und gut organisierten Ortes höflich begrüßt. Disliked Lack of shop really no real food items plenty of drinks but not much else,restaurant but not open to public,check in and out via a machine which was ok but prefer face to face.needs a little tlc

We are very pleased that you were so satisfied with our cleanliness and hygiene.
Outside of reception opening hours, check-in and check-out are handled via our system when we are no longer on-site in person, although we are there every day.
We are surprised by the information about a restaurant. Unfortunately, our campsite does not have a restaurant, and this is not mentioned anywhere, so it seems strange to rate this negatively and not recommend us given the many positive aspects such as cleanliness and pitch size.... Best regards and safe travels

Local attractions

The Wildlife park and Greifvogelzoo Potzberg (half an hour's drive) has animals including Highland cattle, goats, deer, horses and raccoons as well as the birds of prey that are the stars of the show. Experience flying through the trees for yourself at the FunForest adventure park (20 minutes). There are eight treetop courses plus two designed especially for kids – climb your way through the trees on a series of ropes, beams and other stepping stones before flying back to earth on the zipwire. If you pack your swimmers too you can have a paddleboarding session on the lake afterwards. Once you're back on the ground you can descend even further at Schlossberghöhlen – Europe’s largest colourful sandstone caves – a 25-minute drive from the site. A guided tour tells you about the many lives of these caves, from sand mine to kids’ playground to wartime bunker.
