Five minutes’ drive from the pretty, half-timbered town of Ahrbrück, Camping Denntal is a peaceful campsite with neatly maintained, spacious grass pitches (all with electric hook-ups and a water supply) in the middle of lushly forested Eifel foothills. This welcoming, family-friendly site offers up lots of leisure activities to keep whole families nicely busy, including a kids’ play area in a sandpit, a pool table and a small swimming lake for cooling off on sunny days. Adults can head for the gym to hone their fitness regime, and then soothe any aching muscles in the wooden sauna post workout. You can keep everyone fed and watered on site too, thanks to a daily bread delivery service and the campsite restaurant, which serves up an all-day supply of family favourites like burgers and fries. Practical amenities include a modern shower block, washing machines and dryers to take care of any laundry, and baby-changing rooms with baths for the youngest guests – plus there’s even a dedicated shower for any muddy canine pals.

Vehicles

  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Electricity is metered on site at €0.75 per kWh and must be paid at check-out. 5 minutes of shower use is included per person, per day. Further usage is €0.20 per minute and is payable on site via a prepaid top-up card.

Liked Ein wirklich schöner und sehr hundefreundlicher Zeltplatz. Es gibt ausreichend Platz, sodass man sein Zelt in Ruhe aufstellen und seinen Aufenthalt entspannt genießen kann. Besonders schön fanden wir die tolle Lage mitten in der Natur. Die Umgebung ist ruhig, idyllisch und ideal für Spaziergänge und Erholung – gerade auch mit Hund.
Wir haben uns hier sehr wohlgefühlt und konnten wunderbar vom Alltag abschalten. Die Zeit in der Natur hat uns richtig gutgetan und wir haben uns während unseres Aufenthalts sehr gut erholt. Insgesamt war es für uns eine wunderschöne und entspannte Campingzeit. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können den Zeltplatz auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Disliked Natürlich gibt es auf einem Campingplatz auch immer den einen oder anderen Gast, der etwas zu bemängeln hat. In unserem Fall fühlte sich ein einzelner Zelturlauber als Einziger durch unsere Unterhaltung gestört. Wir haben uns dabei ganz normal unterhalten und nach 22 Uhr sogar darauf geachtet, nur noch sehr leise bzw. flüsternd zu sprechen.
Für uns gehört ein bisschen Geselligkeit und ein nettes Gespräch beim Zelten einfach dazu. Insgesamt war die Atmosphäre auf dem Platz jedoch sehr angenehm und entspannt, sodass wir uns davon unseren schönen Aufenthalt nicht verderben ließen.

Liked Ein wunderschöner und gemütlicher Campingplatz, sehr gepflegt und mit allem ausgestattet was das Herz begehrt. Besonders toll ist der natürlich angelegte Schwimmteich. Alle waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Liked The welcome. The location a short walk from the village. The showers were a good size - you could keep a dry patch away from the shower tray!

Disliked The pitches were very scrubby which made it a little bit unattractive.
You had to pay for everything separately (the showers, the electricity, tourist tax, etc) - most other camp sites have everything included.

Liked The campsite setting was beautiful and well maintained. The bathroom facilities were excellent and kept clean. Good hot showers. We enjoyed using the pool table, swimming pond and the gym. We used the bread roll service for breakfast and the pizzas from the site were delicious. The family who own the site were lovely and really warm and helpful. Plenty to do in the area if you are willing to drive a short distance.

Disliked Genuinely only didn't give it a 10 because the ground was quite hard for our tent pegs!

There are numerous sporty adventures to get your teeth into around Camping Denntal, including hiking and cycling trails through the spectacular Eifel region as well as the pretty villages and wineries of the Ahr Valley (10 minutes’ drive). Anglers and riders have got lots of options to follow their hobby in the region as well. Families can take a trip on rollercoasters and water rides at Phantasialand amusement park (50 minutes), or exercise the friendly furry beasties at Hirschbach-Alpakas Alpakawanderungen (five minutes). Any culture vultures among you should clamber up to medieval Are Castle (15 minutes) to have an amble around its ramparts and take in spectacular views of forested Eifel hills. Once a top-secret underground HQ for the Federal Republic of Germany, the Government Bunker Documentation Center (half an hour) is now open for guided tours of its tunnels, offices and sleeping quarters.
