Tempted by the idea of staying next to a marina, with direct access to a riverside cycling trail towards historic Lower Saxony towns? Get your bags packed and loaded, as Marina Mehlbergen is set directly on a marina on the river Weser in Lower Saxony and has access to the stunning Weser cycle path between Nienburg and Hoya. Those two historic towns are otherwise just a 20-minute drive away for those who aren’t keen for too much pedalling. Start the day with alfresco breakfast on the picnic bench, which happily has a view of the boats. There are a few options for the morning’s activities, from going fishing on the river (if you have the correct fishing licence and grab a guest fishing permit from the site) or renting a boat for a fee (this one doesn’t require a licence). After you've spent the day pedalling, boating or angling, there is a Greek snack bar on site to help you replenish your energy. If you’d rather cool off first, just stroll to the jetty on the site’s swimming lake. Other facilities on site include a washing-up room and amenities block with toilets and showers. Dogs are also welcome to accompany you on a holiday here.

Liked Ruhige Lage. Super nette Hafenmeisterin. Tolles Team. Nutzung privater Badesee. Top WLAN. Alles gechillt und unkompliziert. Was machbar ist, wird machbar gemacht. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen und wohl gefühlt.

Disliked Einige Stellplätze müssen noch verbessert werden (Untergrund uneben und grober Schotter)- ist allerdings in Arbeit

Liked Grasbewachsener und kiesbedeckter Wohnwagen-Stellplatz mit optionalem Stromanschluss wo man mit einem grossen Wohnmobil vorne auf Rasen und hinten bei Regen auf Matsch steht. Der Rasen ist Geländebedingt stark ansteigend.
Nette Hafenmeisterin.

Disliked Sanitäranlagen stark in die Jahre gekommen. Laut Schild von 22 Uhr bis 0700 Uhr geschlossen.
Griechen gab es dort nicht oder griesches Essen.🫩

Liked Kleiner, niedlicher Stellplatz für Wohnmobile mit schönem Blick über den kleinen Hafen. Die Hafenmeisterin und auch alle anderen sind sehr nett und hilfsbereit.
Alles, was man braucht – wie z. B. Müllentsorgung – ist vorhanden und gut organisiert. Stromsäulen befinden sich direkt am Stellplatz. WLAN ist im Preis inbegriffen. Duschen und Toiletten sind ebenfalls vorhanden.
Ich komme gerne wieder, es hat mir sehr gut gefallen.

Disliked Da ich selbst auf einem Stellplatz arbeite, würde ich regelmäßig nach den Nassräumen und Toiletten sehen, den Mülleimer leeren, die Sauberkeit kontrollieren, gegebenenfalls noch einmal durchwischen und Toilettenpapier auffüllen. Damit wäre alles perfekt gepflegt.

Liked Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt von der Hafenmeisterin. Der Platz ist sehr schön gelegen. Die WC Anlage ist einfach aber immer sauber. Es hat uns an nicht gefehlt. Der Marinainhaber und seine Frau sind sehr nett und immer offen für ein Gespräch. Danke, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Local attractions

Drive or cycle to Nienburg (20 minutes’ drive) to see its stunning half-timbered buildings. Set on the river Weser, the town is also surrounded by marshland, forests and heather areas, so if you want to continue cycling, driving or hiking further afield, you very much have the means to do so on the local trails. Occasional events may be held in Nienburg, such as the Old Town Festival and asparagus festival. Hoya (20 minutes) is also on the Weser cycling trail and is full of gorgeous scenery and historic old buildings. Quench your first at one of the riverfront restaurants, perhaps, or ask around about the local legends (dwarfs, and so on…). If a non-negotiable for any holiday is a day by the water, take the time to drive south towards Steinhuder Meer (50 minutes). Here, there are plenty of chances to take a dip, whether at one of the lakefront beaches or by taking a sailing, paddleboarding or kitesurfing class. Steinhuder Meer is the largest lake in Lower Saxony, just so you know for bucket-list purposes.
