  • Friendly and relaxed site on the banks of the Saône river
  • A 14-kilometre towpath along the river right outside the site
  • Fishing equipment to hire on site
Fishing or bike rides? Both are on the menu at Camping Kanôpée Village, a peaceful, well-appointed park in Trévoux, on the banks of the Saône river in the scenic Ain department. The site is set in a peaceful area on the edge of a river, surrounded by dense, green vegetation. Spacious, shaded and well-maintained, the pitches are all grassy. There's plenty of space to relax and take in the scenery at this park – and plenty to keep the kids busy while the grownups chill out, as in high season the park’s lively entertainment team runs daily activities for junior guests such as arts and crafts, treasure hunts and sports tournaments. Adults, meanwhile, will find a pétanque court. For bicycle rides, head to the edge of the river or the towpath in front of the site. If you'd rather swim, there is a water park in Trévoux, a few kilometres from the site. The Saône is a popular fishing spot (purchase a licence and rent basic equipment at reception). For golfers, there is an 18-hole course 10 minutes' drive away from the site. Colombier Lake, a splendid green setting for a swim, is five minutes' drive away too. The campsite has three well-maintained toilet blocks, as well as wifi.

What customers say

This campsite offers a beautiful riverside location, within walking distance of a charming town. Visitors praised the spacious, well-kept pitches, clean facilities, and the friendly, helpful staff. The site is described as quiet and well-organised, ideal for stopovers or longer stays. Some guests noted issues with noise from nearby areas or dated facilities, and the lack of on-site services like a swimming pool or restaurant was mentioned, though a popular pizza van is available externally. Manager replies indicate ongoing improvements and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The location was great by the lake and very easy to get to the local shops etc. The reception staff were very helpful - we were going to arrive after the check-in desk closed but I emailed ahead and they sent the gate code etc and we went to reception in the morning, which was ideal. The shower facilities were great and very clean.

Liked Nice river nearby. Not a great area for dog walking due to the number of cyclists. Sure was clean, staff friendly.

Disliked Only one fridge worked in the shop therefore limited amount of cold drinks.

Had to pay for WiFi so didn’t use it.

Electric optional grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Electric grass pitch

Liked Great welcome from cheerful reception staff. We could choose our own pitch location from a range of ample sized pitches offering sun, shade, view and location options. The sanitary block was very bright and clean with ample numbers for shower and toilet cubicles. Black and grey waste disposal was adequate. We wanted to visit Lyon during our stay and reception gave us spot on advice on how best to get there.

Disliked A small grumble is that the potable water points have press and hold taps which makes it a tedious process to fill a water butt.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Only stayed one night whilst passing through. Close to motorway. 5min walk to nice town along river bank. Large pitches.

Disliked Facilities a bit dated, no soap or toilet paper in bathrooms. Pool not open. No on-site cafe although pizza van in carpark outside site - pizza excellent!

From the manager: Hello
Thank you for sharing your feedback following your stopover with us. We are glad you enjoyed our large pitches, the quick motorway access, and the short walk along the river to our beautiful town. It’s also great to hear you loved the pizza van!
We don't have a swimming pool at our campsite

Liked Fantastic check in, advised of all the facilities. Park where you like so you pick the perfect pitch for you. Very friendly site. Perfect location on top of the river Rhone and gorgeous sunset views of the town. Town within walking distance with lots of cute restaurants and bars. We’d walk to the market on a Saturday in today and grab ourself local produce. There’s a butchers, spar shop and pharmacy in the town.

From the manager: Thank you so much for this wonderful and detailed review!
We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our warm welcome, the freedom to choose your perfect pitch, and our friendly atmosphere. It is true that our location right by the Saône river offers gorgeous sunset views over our lovely town!
We are also glad you got to enjoy the local Saturday market and the nearby shops and restaurants within walking distance. It’s exactly the kind of relaxing experience we love to offer our guests.
We would be delighted to welcome you back for another fantastic stay!

Local attractions

Pedally peeps will be pleased to learn that a 14-kilometre towpath lies right in front of the site; alternatively, if you’re more into your jumps and dirt trails, head to the Dombes plateau, 23 kilometres from base, to traverse its 16 mountain bike circuits. Two hiking trails are marked out here too if you’d rather take a slower approach. For a city-based jaunt, UNESCO-listed Lyon is around 40 minutes’ drive away, or about an hour and a half on a bike alongside the Saône if you’re feeling particularly energetic. Stick around to sample the city’s famed gastronomy in between exploring sights such as the museum of fine arts, the spectacular hilltop church and museum of Fourvière, and the 14th-century cathedral.
