Local attractions

Oisans is a region characterized by its high mountains. It is famous for the Écrins National Park, France’s largest and highest national park.

There are many glaciers, springs, lakes, waterfalls and streams to explore. Oisans is also the land of eagles, chamois and ibexes, as well as the legendary peaks, from La Meije to the Barre des Écrins.

Oisans has six valleys – the valleys of Romanche, Ferrand, Vénéon, Sarenne, Lignarre, and the Vallée de l’Eau d’Olle – with some wild rivers, typical mountain villages clinging to the steep mountainsides.

Cyclists can attempt to climb many of the ‘balcony roads’ in the high mountain passes or the famous 21 hairpin bends on the winding road to Alpe d’Huez which has been the scene of many a legendary stage of the Tour de France.
