  • Lakeside setting in the French Alps, facing mighty Mont Blanc
  • Private beach with waterslide, sun loungers and umbrellas
  • Lakeside restaurant with views over the water and Mont Blanc
You'd arrange a few days' French Alps stay at Camping Mont Blanc Plage just for those gorgeous lake views, with towering Mont Blanc images bouncing back up at you from the gorgeous waters. Add in a whole bucketload of outdoor activities nearby and… well, how long can you take off work to hide away here? The pics above give just a teeny taster of how lush this Haute-Savoie setting is. See for yourself by settling in on a comfy sun lounger on the site’s lakeside terrace as you gawp out over the pair of private lakes. Swimming is allowed, for cooling dips on hot days – or hardy ones on cooler days; there’s a waterslide if you’d like to make a splash with your entrance. Dry off afterwards ready for table tennis in the games room, a lazy sprawl in the TV room or a feast at the lakeside restaurant. Do make an effort to tear yourselves away from those views every so often, though – you’ll be within easy reach of famed Alps highlights – Chamonix and the cable car ride to Aiguille du Midi are within half an hour’s drive, and ski resorts such as Combloux and Megève are 15 and 25 minutes away. Just want to max out the lake time? Trot over to Lac de Passy, a few minutes’ walk away, for beach days, kayaking, windsurfing and fishing. Supplies of all sorts are in the sizeable town of Sallanches, five minutes’ drive away. No need to head up there at the crack of dawn though; the site restaurant sells bread and croissants every morning.

What customers say

This family-run campsite boasts spectacular Mont Blanc views and a lovely private lake for swimming. Guests appreciate the spacious pitches, friendly hosts, and proximity to a public lake with activities. While some facilities are noted as dated, recent renovations have improved the newer blocks. Noise from a nearby road and railway is mentioned, as are occasional issues with wildlife and some dated areas. Overall, it's considered a good value stopover and a beautiful location for exploring the Alps.

Electric optional grass and earth motorhome pitch

Liked Beautiful setting and swimming lake. Good shady spots.
Clean loos and showers

Although we were between a road and a railway line, the noise was minimal. The wildlife - ducks, coots, frogs etc were louder.

Loads of well marked walks nearby further up the mountain to escape the heat.

Very good value.

Disliked No soap by the basins.

Grotty looking entrance with graffiti nearby was slightly off putting.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring caravan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Quirky small campsite based around a small shallow lake. Another much larger lake on the actual site can be used for swimming and sunbathing, as long as you don’t mind swimming with the fish!

It must have been a great site back in its hay day but now it just feels a little old and tired……. Like something that originally dated from the 70s-80s!

However, you can pitch right next to the little lake and just relax.

There was a restaurant however it was very dated. I think they would have been better off getting rid of the actual restaurant and just having some sort of snack bar style area - where you could just get a burger or salad.
€31 for a burger and fries and a cold beer was a bit much though.
Bring your own cooking stuff and do a BBQ instead.

Toilets had by the look of it just been all redone and modernised. Can’t complain about their cleanliness at all - always clean, and importantly you didn’t need your own toilet roll!!

Whole site was very clean, no rubbish at all, so no complaints there.

Each pitch is only ever a pitch or so away from mains power, however water is only at either of the two toilet block areas. A couple of standpipe taps would have been nice.

If you walk across the railway line (there’s never many trains and you don’t really notice any noise) then there is a much much bigger public lake (lac de Passy) and beach area along with a snack bar/cafe.
During the summer this public lake has a big inflatable jump park in the water. This lake would also be great for paddle boarding on and also the beach area is very shallow so great for kids. You can even hire lifejackets.

No onsite shop at all, so you’ll need to use the supermarkets at Passy and Sallanches. If you need any camping stuff then there is a huge Decathlon in Passy. Plus fuel is available in both towns. Chamonix is around a 20 minute drive.

Overall, I paid about €26 for two nights. The site was clean and functional and perfect stop off point on my road trip.
Would I stop here again, yes but probably just for one night as an overnight stop off when coming through the Alps.

The ducks are friendly and will eat food from your hand, however they can be noisy buggers after dusk!

Liked This is our 3rd year coming here, there is everything to like, from the views, lake, the welcoming from the lady's who run this place and the dedication they put into it. You can choose your own spot, washing machine is free, the washing areas are clean.

Disliked Nothing..this place is a perfect little piece of heaven.

Liked The Proprietor was excellent, helpful and informative, the setting was stunning and really relaxing.

Disliked These comments are not a dislike, but an observation. The old (changing rooms) were scruffy, and the old part of the site needed a makeover. the bar area bar and terrace was excellent, and a lovely atmosphere. Toilet block, one new one old, again old needs updating.

From the manager: THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADVISE BUT WHAT YOU CALL THE OLD FACILITIES HAVE BEEN RENOVATED IN FEBRUARY THIS YEAR.
THE BEACH IS CLEAN EVERY MORNING AND YOU CANNOT SEE IT BECAUSE IT S DONE AT 7 IN THE MORNING BUT YOU SLEEP.
AND CHANGING ROOMS HAVE BEEN PAINT IN JUNE BUT THEY ARE NOW ONLY DECORATION. MAYBE SHOULD YOU GO NEXT TIME TO THE PREVIOUS CAMPSITES WHERE EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT

Liked Spectacular scenery.
Welcoming staff with a tour of the facilities upon arrival.
Level pitches with plenty of electric pitches. Extra bathroom facilities were opened as it got busier which was much appreciated.
Wonderful lake for swimming and sunbathing though we were not adventurous enough to get in with the big fish!!

Disliked Unfortunately the ducks were rather loud during our stay at around 10-12pm, obviously this is no fault of the owners/site and we were parked right by the lake (our fault) just may be worth considering if staying this time of year.

Electric optional grass and earth motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely site, really lovely sisters and waiter who were very welcoming and accomodating. Private lake you can swim in on site with ladders to go down, 5 min or less walk to a public lake that you can swim in which is lovely. Fresh bread and stuff if ordered night before, restaurant with lovely views, great food and carp swimming in the Lillie pads which is just lovely to see. Frogs at night Didnt bother us and stayed two mor nights as loved the placed and atmosphere. Two blocks of toilets and showers one older block and some showers had a mind of their own but that didn’t put us off. Ducks were pretty much camped with us but that’s my fault due to feeding them and loved the wild life.

Disliked Nothing thank you ladies was a real pleasure and thanks for making it a lovely stay and allowing us to extend.

Electric optional grass and earth motorhome pitch

Liked It has all the facilities and the bar/restaurant; views of Mont Blanc are epic and you have all the facilities (except grey waste) and the location is great as a base to explore the ‘chamonix’ region . But it’s just a little dated and tired. But the owners are lovely and a dip in the main huge pond with lots of sun loungers is great.

Disliked Just a deep clean of the sanitiaires. Just a bit more thought to make the pitches more appealing. You get used to the motorway and railway (and the frogs).

Local attractions

Hikes and bike rides are easily accessed in the mountains around the site, several from Sallanches under your own steam and more available to book with local guides. Three highlights are the routes around Mayères Alp, the Veran valley and around Doran; the Sallanches tourist office (in the 14th-century castle at Quai de l'Hôtel de Ville) is open from Monday to Saturday for info on these and on guided tours. By car, set off for trips to Chamonix, for shops, cafés, restaurants and more heady Mont Blanc views, plus rides on the cable car ride to Aiguille de Midi, rising 3,842 metres from the town centre. Skiing is easily accessed around the area – 'tis the Alps, after all – and the blue waters of Lac Bénit are within 50 minutes' drive if you'd prefer warmer pursuits amid scenic lakeside walks. If you're holidaying with kids or teens, Sallanches has a couple of playgrounds, a skate park, a public pool, bowling and a big indoor play centre for ages up to 12. Paintballing is available at Passy, 10 minutes' drive away.
