General

  • Less than a kilometre from the shores of Lake Annecy
  • Pool, paddling pool and waterslide
  • Bar with terrace, games room, playground, sports area and tourist info

One doesn't get many lakes like this to the euro... but then this is Lake Annecy, in a green countryside setting and surrounded by the Alps: c'est most pretty indeed.

Family-friendly Camping La Ravoire is less than a kilometre from the shores of this lush lake and about 17 kilometres from the town of Annecy. Bring your togs for site pursuits as well as lakey ones, for here there be a pool, a paddling pool and waterslide in the centre of the site along the many other facilities: we hope you're ready to get active... (Non? Relaxing deckchairs aplenty are by the pool).

La Ravoire extends over two and a third hectares and is made up of level pitches and tree-lined alleys. It's only some metres from the lake (although the nearest access point is via the beach at Doussard, less than a kilometre away). Around the back runs the cycle path from Annecy to Albertville, a safe place for all to cycle or to try some inline skating.

The swimming pool complex is in the centre of the site, near the bar and terrace. There's also a big playground with slide, roundabout, table tennis and other games for tiddlers, and a multisports area and a pétanque court next to the playground.

A games room is on the first floor of the reception building, with a billiard table, mini football table and video games; the first floor is also the place to go if you want any tourist info on the region or to find out about the many sports available all around. Or ask the Camping La Ravoire staff: the small team here prides itself on its high-quality service and its members are all on hand to help you have a highly enjoyable stay.

Please note

Dogs are not allowed in the accommodation units.

The indoor swimming pool is open between 15/05 and 11/09.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/05 and 11/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Really enjoyed having the cycle path into Annecy so close ... 18/09/2017

Really enjoyed having the cycle path into Annecy so close to the site. A safe route in stunning scenery. As our stay was not in the peak season there was a choice of pitches and no overcrowding. Good English spoken, although we do try to speak French. Lovely terrace near the pool and the bar. Washing machines, dryers (not needed this time due to lovely weather) and ironing board. Best showers of the holiday.

    Disliked:

You lose the direct sun very early in the evening due to the mountains. A number of the showers were closed in order to cut down on the amount of cleaning as the site was fairly quiet...... very frustrating when you are standing waiting for a shower to become free.
Could be a little crowded in peak times.

Just a note of caution... read the email about directions to the site as the one the sat nav wanted would have been a problem for our large caravan.

A little far away from restaurants and there wasn't one on site so we had to walk along fairly dark lanes to get to one. Some of the restaurants close fairly early and often take a weekday off so prepare in advance.

Continue to Bout du Lac up to the restaurant called 'Chez Ma Cousine' on the right-hand (lake side). Local attractions

Many a place is named these days as 'The Venice of...' something or other, but it shouldn't make your pedantic muscles twitch to hear that local city Annecy is nicknamed the 'Venice of the Alps', for verily it is Very Pretty (and watery) Indeed.

Stroll around the city's also very pretty lanes and then get hither to the Forclaz Pass for one of the best views of the/a lake you'll get anywhere; it's about 25 minutes' drive from Camping La Ravoire.

You'll also be up for a cruise on the lake, of course... Embark on a boat ride from Bout du Lac 200 metres from the site for getting to a day at Annecy, or just floating around close to base, drifting dreamily among the views of the surrounding mountains...

Chamonix and Mont Blanc are an hour's drive away:its fairly safe to say that climbing up to an altitude of 3,777 metres at l'Aiguille du Midi and touching snow in summer is a hol experience that will be with you always.
