It’s all about comfortable, fun and affordable family holidays at Camping Les Avenières, whether you’re passing through for a single night or staying put for a longer break. This friendly Drôme site is in a lovely, quiet and green setting on the outskirts of the little town of Manthes, a few minutes' drive from its amenities (including restaurants and a supermarket), as well as that chilled-out rural atmosphere. In fact, this is a very well-placed site for all sorts of days out as well, whether you’re planning to hike in the nearby Pilat Regional Natural Park, tour traditional villages or visit attractions like the Palais Idéal (10 minutes’ drive away) and Safari de Peaugres (half an hour). Everything on site has been designed with family holidays in mind – from the leisure facilities (a heated outdoor pool, a trampoline, a playground and a pétanque court) to the fact that no vehicle movements are allowed between 11.30pm and 7am to allow everyone to sleep soundly. Practical facilities are plentiful at Les Avenières – it has an electric car charging point, wifi, a launderette and a dog-sitting service for those days out where your furry friend can’t join you. Reception sells snacks, ice creams, drinks, staple foods and local produce, and the snack bar opens up one evening per week in summer for woodfired pizzas.

Liked The surroundings are beautiful, and the campsite is incredibly peaceful. Our pitch was very spacious and close to the sanitary facilities. The sanitary facilities and the mobile homes are quite dated, but we found them charming. The man at the reception was very friendly. The swimming pool was fantastic, a big plus for unwinding after our journey.

Disliked The restaurant is only open on Saturdays, unfortunately for us. We had to go grocery shopping by bike, but on the way to the supermarket (a 10-minute bike ride), the cars drove very fast, which wasn't without danger.

Liked We had a fantastic time at this campsite! The location is absolutely beautiful – peaceful and surrounded by nature. We especially loved the spacious pitches and the quiet atmosphere at night – perfect for stargazing.

Liked Friendly welcome. Large pitch. Beautiful surroundings. Cheap.

Disliked Basic facilities. Train line near ( it was not audible in the campervan). Staff cleaned swimming pool with jet wash all day (Saturday/Sunday), which was very noisy.
