A bar selling regional beers and a supermarket right on site, packed with organic produce from farms around the area: how handy. And even handier still, the town of Apt – set snugly between the Vaucluse and Luberon mountains – is 10 minutes’ walk from this peaceful site too: take a walk around its weekly Saturday morning market at the Place des Martyrs de la Résistance for yet more local produce. Set across almost two lush green hectares, Camping les Cèdres is a family site with a friendly and welcoming vibe, in a countryside setting between Haute-Provence and the Rhône valley and right in the middle of the Luberon Natural Park. As well as the bar and the supermarket with local produce, fresh bread and pastries are available on site and there's a snack bar open throughout the day. Facilities include a playground, a small secure climbing wall, a pétanque court, an activity room and a library area, plus free wifi in the site’s public areas.

Local attractions

Connecting Cavaillon to Forcalquier, the Véloroute du Calavon greenway passes right alongside Camping Les Cedres, making serene family cycle trips a cinch from the site: pick up a few beers and organic regional bits from the park’s own shop, stuff you backpack full of treats and venture to explore the spectacular countryside that surrounds for an entire day. If you’re into climbing, then the site is also placed handily for clambers at the cliffs of Buoux, which you can climb there almost all year long; just note that only a few routes here are under level 5c. To sort family splashes, watersports are available at a leisure base at a few kilometres from base too, or there’s a public pool close by in Apt.
