  • Friendly site 30 minutes' drive from the beaches of Cannes and Antibes
  • Pools, solarium and sun loungers for free use
  • Games room, playground, sports courts and summer entertainment

Beachside days, posh shopping days, outdoorsy days and long lazy days on site are all well within your holiday reach here, for this well-appointed spot is sandwiched between the lush and colourful Provençal countryside and the French Riviera, within easy driving distance of the famed coastal settlements of Cannes, Nice and Antibes and several topping towns inland.

Camping L'Orée d'Azur is a fine forested family site in Opio: the surroundings are splendidly shaded, and the many facilities modern. Begin your break first with an amble over to the heated pool, perhaps, for a full-on dunk or to dip your toe every now and again in between sun lounger lazes.

Then, when appetites have been amply built, have yourself a stroll to the restaurant for something scrumptious (the salads here are good and sizable too); otherwise, an Italian restaurant is a short walk from the park, and picnic supplies to be enjoyed on site under pleasant partial shade can be procured from nearby Opio.

The recreation area is a good spot too for yet more relaxed activity time, furnished most generously with football and pool tables, two outdoor ping pong tables and a playground, plus pétanque, tennis and volleyball courts.

For further on-hol fun, the team organises plenty of entertainment and activities during high season with events like dance nights, karaoke evenings, piano concerts, plus sports tournaments to encourage a little friendly inter-guest competition.

Arrived after 2 days driving down to Cote D'Azur & was shown to our 'pitch' - a cramped, stony, dusty, gravel patch, surrounded by static vans. More like a poorly maintained car park than a camp site. I don't think I have ever been more disappointed. I immediately requested a refund - which is yet to arrive! The picturesque shots on website are of local area & do not accurately represent where you actually stay.

From the manager...

We are sincerely sorry for not being able to answer your expectations and are very surprised of your behavior and your reaction since you are the first person to compare our campsites so much asked for their calm and greenery to vulgar parking places !
You wanted grass on your site, but unfortunately at this time of the year it is impossible to have a green lawn!
The plot we have proposed is about 100m ² and is shaded. The campsite l'Orée d'Azur is located in a natural area, in the regional park of the pre-Alps of Azur between sea and mountain.
We attach great importance to respect for nature and the environment. At Opio, it has not rained for nearly 4 months. The watering of plots would be for us, an ecological aberration. In addition, we respect the instructions given to us by the French government. We are asked to reduce our water consumption by limiting watering plants, lawns ... so as not to waste precious drinking water.
We also remind you that we have immediately refunded your stay on your credit card and are not responsible for the problems of refunding the part paid on the internet (pitchup site).

Local attractions

There’s absolutely tons of lush and lovely stuff to do along the coast and further inland around the Provençal countryside within easy reach of Camping L'Orée d'Azur. For outdoorsy days, go canyoning, rafting, climbing, go-karting, horse riding and hiking in the surrounding locale, or tee off at the 18-hole golf courses in nearby Opio Valbonne and La Grande Bastide.

Venture over to Cannes, famed for its film festival, boutique shops and delis, swanky bars and salubrious restaurants, or to Nice to stroll along its famed seven-kilometre Promenade des Anglais or around its Old Town and swish shopping options. More poshness can be purveyed over in Monaco too, for it’s filled with luxury shops and restaurants and is home to the Circuit de Monaco and the opulent 12th-century Prince's Palace of Monaco.

Family outings to several coastal spots are easy to organise from here: take the tiddlers over to Antibes to visit its famed Marineland aquarium and meet sea lions, dolphins and sharks (you’ll get to swim with all three, should you be brave enough), and finish the day off with a visit to the waterpark nearby; it’s got a lazy river to float along and a highly windy 12.5-metre toboggan slide to shoot down, so there’s lots to give tiny peeps plenty to do in the water while grownups laze around on the solarium alongside.
