  • Small, peaceful site in the Vienne countryside near Romagne
  • A five-minute drive to La Vallée Des Singes and 45 minutes to Poitiers
  • Order breakfast and evening meals on site
Life moves at a slower pace in the country lanes and market villages of Vienne… simply, very little seems urgent anymore when you’re ambling past fields of yellow sunflowers or trickling streams. Try it out for yourself at Le Jardin de Rose, a friendly, peaceful site in the serene Vienne countryside. This is a place where you can relax with a good book, tuck into a peaceful picnic or simply sit and contemplate the countryside. This dog-friendly site is a kilometre from the village of Romagne, 10 minutes’ drive from the market town of Château-Garnier and 45 minutes from the Romanesque city scenes of Poitiers. For a fab way to explore the French countryside, you can book breakfast to eat on site, then take a countryside stroll to scope out the local delicacies in the village markets, or drop in at one of several restaurants within a 10-minute drive. For a snack on the go, hire a bike – you might get lucky and nab one with a traditional basket – and pedal your way along country lanes, picking up a baguette fresh out of the bakery ovens for lunch, and return just in time for dinner, which can be booked and delivered direct to your tent. Within a five-minute drive of the cheeky monkeys at La Vallée Des Singes and a 45-minute drive from Futuroscope, this a site for the whole family, with kayaking, canoeing, and fishing nearby too.

Electric optional grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Good sized pitch close to the amenities. The toilets / showers were immaculate. The owner Mark was very welcoming & provided an electric hook up extension. The location is very quiet but the town is a 10 minute drive. We will definitely return if we are in the area & would highly recommend.

Liked: Was soll ich da schreiben.

Disliked: Nichts.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nice basic campsite. Met by the owner on arrival who was very welcoming. Only minus point would be the one combined toilet and shower. Not an issue when I was there as only one other couple staying. Great to see the bats feeding as the sun went down and the night sky was crystal clear giving a brilliant view of the stars. As a solo traveller it was great. Icing on the cake would be for a beer fridge.

From the manager: Thanks for your nice comments &yes shower situation is unfortunate and is something we have looked at retifing but new owners will be putting in new shower/toilet block. I obviously forgot to mention there is free use of fridge &freezer for campers. Sorry.

Deep fried n rural France, peaceful.

Electric optional grass and gravel pitch

Liked: The site was lovely and peaceful, the hosts were very accommodating and friendly, nothing was ever too much trouble. The toilet and shower very clean.

Disliked: The only thing I would say is it needs another toilet / shower, there is only one onsite for camping / motor homes and first thing in the morning everyone needs the loo :-) we were lucky as there was only a few tents motor homes including us but if it was busier ?

From the manager: Lovely to meet you both, I’m sure the new owners will look in to the expansion of the facilities once they take over the site and b&b, we do have a Wc available inside by reception. Once again thank you for staying with campinglejardin. Kind regards min and Barry

Electric optional grass and gravel pitch

Liked: What a picturesque site Jardin de Rose is..situated in the grounds of the B&B. We received a lovely welcome from Barry & Ronnie(dog), Min was out when we arrived..she came to say hello on her return. Then she fed the chickens & cockerel. Early wake-up call from the cockerels. No issue to us. There’s 2 very large pitches with EHU the rest don’t have electric, but large pitches. You can book breakfast the evening before - full English or Continental €8.50. We booked a full English for the next morning which we ate in the house..what a beautiful dining room and the breakfast was delicious. There’s washing up facilities, a bathroom with a shower outside. There’s no Elsan for emptying your caravan toilet, but if you use GREEN toilet liquid you’re able to empty down the mains toilet. The small village is a little walk away. Not an awful lot to do but nice to have a wonder. A tranquil place to spend 3 nights. Barry, Min & Ronnie were so helpful & welcoming.

Disliked: NOTHING!

Local attractions

Learn to tell apart a tamarind monkey from a chimpanzee at the monkey park La Vallée Des Singes (five minutes’ drive) or hold your breath for the nerve-tingling rides Futuroscope theme park (45 minutes). For beasts with a bigger snap, check out the crocodiles at La Planète des Crocodiles (40 minutes). After all the adrenalin-pumping, don't be afraid to get mucky too. This is the Vienne countryside after all, and days of canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are all within a 35-minute drive. There’s a golf course (15 minutes), for those who want to practise their hole-in-one, and when you want to swap the bicycle wheels for a tough pair of hooves, there's horse riding at Lemaire Jean (five minutes). To throw a bit of history into the mix, wander among the half-timbered houses and Romanesque churches of Poitiers (45 minutes) or check out the cathedral, museum and Upper Town in Angoulême (an hour).
