You don't need to be a superhero to stay at splendidly eco-friendly Domaine de Dienné in the Vienne, says its team; all you need is a hankering for saving the planet and preserving the natural environment. The site has a leisure park running activities and events for visitors to take part in during their stay or on a day entry. Covering 116 acres, it has a vast range of stuff to do for active or relaxed breaks, and a magic forest where pretend elves and leprechauns greet small adventurers. Adults can spend time at the aquatic area (covered and heated to 27°C) while children swim safely in the paddling pool next door. The on-site bar is set near the pool, serving salads, sandwiches, chips and ice cream in high season, as well as cold drinks on the terrace. Get stuck into the loads of other outdoor options on site, too, such as horse riding, high ropes, archery and miniature golf – some free and some available for a few extra coins. A good range of choices is available for food of other sorts, including the 'plancha des farfadets' which includes platters of meat, vegetarian dishes and fish to grill on a central barbecue table and an on-site restaurant called Chaudron du Farfadet (open every evening from Monday to Saturday depending on the season). Takeaways and breakfasts delivered right to your door are all available too.

Redelijk rustig bij een volzette camping

Disliked De camping is zeker aan te raden maar alles is afhankelijk welke accomodatie je kiest. Wij zaten in een boomhut voor 4 personen, hierin zaten wij met 3 personen en voelde zeker al te klein. Geen fan van het composttoilet.

Je moet een bandje aandoen en een code invoeren om de lagune te betreden maar controle hierop is er niet. Je kan de knop om de poort te openen langs de binnenzijde bedienen aan de buitenzijde, wat is dan het nut?

Veel haar dat op het water van de lagune drijft. Ook weinig schaduw beschikbaar. Er zijn overkappingen maar naarmate waar de zon staat bieden deze toch geen schaduw. De bar was gesloten wanneer het al meer dan 30 graden was.

Je moet reserveren in het restaurant om een plaats te hebben. Door een onverwachte storm konden we niet koken en hebben we een oplossing buiten de camping moeten zoeken

1 fatsoenlijke sanitaire blok beschikbaar achteraan de camping, dit moet zeker uitgebreid worden naar de andere zones.
Aan het zwembad is maar 1 toilet per geslacht beschikbaar (excl. mindervalide) voor beide zwembaden en de restaurants, die dan ook nog eens ondergeplast is.

Zeer warm in de cottage waardoor de ijskast niet meer voldoende functioneert.

Voor onze zone is er een gemeenschappelijke grill maar deze wordt lang bezet door gezinnen die er ook langdurig blijven eten.

Veel activiteiten op de camping maar sommige kunnen prijs/kwaliteit beter geprijsd worden.

Liked The pool was incredible, beautiful, clean and very peaceful. We stayed in the treehouse for 4 and it was super fun, cosy a really different experience. The facilities were clean. Small shop on site, which was well stocked with essentials. Lots to do on site.

Notre snack bar situé vers l'accueil, ferme effectivement à 17h mais pour laisser la place au Bar du restaurant, situé au niveau du Lagon, il est ouvert de 15h jusqu'à la fin du service et bénéficie d'une grande terrasse avec vue sur le Lagon.
Nos équipes propreté laissent souvent profiter un peu plus tard que 20h mais doivent fermées pour entretenir les lieux que ce soit la piscine ou le lagon.

Liked Large pitch with good clean amenities. Characterful site which kids would love. Some lovely places to visit within a half hour drive.

Disliked Prices in the shop for drinks, for some the cost would prove prohibitive. The pool was really rather small for the number of potential guests, even accepting the alternative of the lagoon. The biggest gripe was the thumping base that woke me up at approximately 20 minutes past midnight, from a function being held centrally near the pool. This continued for a number of hours. The bass and the volume could have been reduced to allow all guests to enjoy their break.

Local attractions

The superstar setting of Domaine de Dienné is half an hour's drive from Poitiers and 35 minutes from Futuroscope. As the second-oldest university town in France (after Paris), Poitiers has a lively nightlife and a busy calendar of cultural activities and social events. It's a fine old town to potter around by day too, taking one of the three coloured circuits (red, yellow or blue) around famed sights like the baptistry, cathedral and church of Notre-Dame, the historic centre, and around the Parc de Blossac. Pick up info on all three trails at the Poitiers tourist office, next to the cathedral. Thrill-seekers and outdoorsy people can try climbing the treetop obstacle courses with routes for all abilities at FUN FOREST (35 minutes) or Aven'Thuré (55 minutes). For a combo of nature and adventure, make your way to Park "La Belle" (20 minutes) too, which has peaceful flower gardens and cabins. Fans of animals should also appreciate La Vallée Des Singes (40 minutes), a wildlife park where you can get up close and personal with primate species.
