Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: The quiet and nature of the site could hear the birds singing which was lovely. Toilets, showers, washing up and washing facility’s were good. Good size pitches. There are chickens on site and am sure I saw a goat, play area. for kids. Didn’t explore the area as it was a one night stopover but would definitely return for longer. The site is run by a lovely English couple who made us feel very welcome.

Liked: Large, secluded pitches in woodland. Very good shower facilities. Nice bar and recreational facilities. Pleasant 10 minutes walk into village where boulangerie sells delicious bread, croissants and chocolate cookies! Two nights was not enough!

Liked: Henry & Cat were so hospitable, it was like being in a home away from home. It's a lovely laid out campsite, and has everything that you would want to hand. Highly recommended.

Coco Sweet 2 bedroom camping pod

Liked: Katherine and Henry have created something really special in the woods in rural France. They put everything into this fantastic little campsite and you can feel it. We arrived with 2 children struck down with horrible food poisoning from a dodgy hot dog in Belgium, Katherine sorted us alternative accommodation that had a vital toilet even though the Internet was down as they were in the middle of a storm, and once the kids were fully recovered we had the perfect balance of peace and tranquility and a fabulous pool, great pizzas and frites, great little bar, and so many generously free activities, our favourites being badminton, mini golf and table tennis. Topped off with a campfire with marshmallows toasted on sticks we'd whittled from their woods , perfection !

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked: Very well laid out with spacious pitches. Check in was friendly and welcoming. The pool was fantastic, large, clean and secure. With a bar and snacks available it is ideal for families with children who need to let off steam! The pool area has ping pong, air hockey and foosball tables also. If we were traveling with our granddaughter in the area again we would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Nothing really.

Local attractions

Wine and cognac, old old towns, and theme parks featuring the past and the future are what you might like to dive into first around Camping du Bois de St Hilaire, along with the many local marked paths for walking and biking. A couple of other early stops should be the Poitou-Charentes capital of Poitiers for its medieval centre and nights in its many student-friendly pubs; and the old fortified town of Parthenay, also with a medieval centre as well as ancient town walls, a 13th-century gateway and medieval timber-framed houses. The old port city of La Rochelle is an hour and a half away on the west coast. The theme park of Puy du Fou will let littlies feel they're in the past at its medieval town, Viking fortress and replica amphitheatre; to feel what the future might be like, take them to Futuroscope, about 30 kilometres from base.
