What customers say

This is a peaceful, natural site with spacious, shaded pitches and friendly owners who welcome late arrivals. Guests enjoyed the pleasant terrace restaurant by the river and the proximity to Cognac distilleries. However, some visitors found the site neglected and in need of renovation, with issues concerning the cleanliness and distance of sanitary facilities. Improvements are reportedly in progress.

Electric grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Shade of trees. Pleasant enough people at reception.

Disliked Very run down. Toilets were a long way away and looked like something from the fifties! Washing up hut left to rot and was filthy. They couldn't find our booking for about 10 mins.

Liked Friendly staff. Close to motorway for a one night stop over

Disliked There’s rustic and then there’s rustic. Very basic. Lady who owns it has only had it for a year but it’s very neglected.

Local attractions

The Château des Enigmes (five minutes’ drive) combines a splendid Renaissance castle with a pirate-themed treasure hunt featuring clues that take you through the surrounding woodland and on a petting farm. Also worth a peek is the castle’s Winter Garden, designed by Gustave Eiffel. Founded in the first century, the town of Saintes (25 minutes) is known for its Gallo-Roman monuments, including the imposing Arch of Germanicus, on a wide promenade on the banks of the Charente, and the ruins of an amphitheatre built within a small valley to take advantage of the area’s natural slopes. On the Gironde Estuary, the seaside resort of Royan (50 minutes) has sandy beaches such as the wide, sheltered Plage de la Grande-Conche, with rental outfits for watersports. Restaurants fringe the pretty marina, and modernist architecture lines Boulevard Aristide Briand.
