Would you like to stay on Ré? Sure you would – it's an island beauty and although it's on the west of the country and on the Atlantic Ocean, it gets around the same annual hours of rays as the sunny south of France.
A short drive from the fine sandy beaches of l'ile is Camping Le Suroit, a family-friendly park set up to entertain all from morning to night, with an outdoor seasonal heated swimming pool and a heated paddling pool open in summer, and lots of activities for adults and kids during the day and evening. A kids' club and regular sports tournaments run in high season.
The site also has a bar, communal barbecue, laundry room and bike rental. A playground and table football is on hand for the kids.

Route directions
From Paris, take the A10 towards Bordeaux and exit at Junction 33, going towards La Rochelle. Once at La Rochelle, take the N237 towards l'Ile de Ré and after crossing the 3km-long bridge take the third exit D201 at the roundabout. Continue straight and then once at the village Le Bois-Plage-en-Ré, take the third exit and you will see the campsite on your left.

Local attractions
The Île de Ré will have cyclists most heureux, for miles of cycle paths snake around the island and many residents here don't even bother with cars. Hire a bike at Camping Le Suroit for many a peaceful pedal through its varied landscape: you should see beaches, marinas, forests and salt marshes.
Just off the island is the rest of the department of Charente Maritime, famed for many a thing including the oyster farms of Oléron and its city La Rochelle with Europe's biggest aquarium.
Spy on the region's nature too at Marais Poitevin or Green Venice, which can be crossed by canal, and spy critters from all over the world at La Palmyre Zoo, one of the most popular attractions in the Charente-Maritime.
