Remote, rural, rustic even, but I have never been to ... 10/10/2017

Remote, rural, rustic even, but I have never been to a campsite where the owners made us feel so welcome and could not have been more helpful. No English spoken by the owners, no French spoken by us, but somehow we managed to converse and had a wonderful time. Three nights in a tent, 15 minutes from Cognac, 15 minutes from Pons, 30 minutes from Saintes. Not everyone's cup of tea, first day we were a little unsure but once we settled in to our surroundings we loved it. No hesitation we will be back.

This is a fantastic site. We arrived late (9pm) and Ricard the owner was there to greet us with a smile. His English is almost non-existent but with my little French we understood each other.

We could choose the location to pitch. It is a reasonably sized site with mixed static caravans and people with their own tents/campervans/mobilehomes/caravans. There are pitches under the vast fir trees and most under smaller trees or in the open.

We arrived just after the french families had left for school, so there was only about 7 groups there. I cannot imagine it being an issue if it was full though, as the site is well laid out and has a very relaxed atmosphere.

The amenities are well resourced for the size of the site. The only exception might be the fridge/freezer facility, which I imagine could be an issue if lots of families need to use it.

The pool is a few metres along the road (I suspect it's Ricard's garden) which is beautifully sited and after the initial shock of being cooler than the 34 degree outside temperature, it is refreshing. The busiest time in the pool was around 5pm - the usual pre-dinner swim.

We are definitely returning next year

All in all, if you want a relaxed, calm, quiet site you cannot do any better than this!

Friendly owners and other guests. Lots of people who visit year after year. The toilets and showers were cleaned thoroughly. Fresh bead can be ordered each evening for the next day and pizzas are delivered if ordered once a week. There were several different nationalities visiting. Pets were allowed and well behaved. The pool was clean and had enough sun loungers, plenty for the size of the camp site. We had a really relaxing family holiday. We went to the beach a few times (about an hour away), Pons is a delightful medieval town, Cognac and Angouleme. There is a near by ostrich farm, a fois gras farm (we didn't visit here but other campers had and recommended it) and various other activities in the local area including flea markets. A climb up the church tower at Lonzac is well worth it, the church key can be borrowed from the local tebac. The camp site owners also produce their own Pineau, delicious!

A lovely, small campsite with basic but adequate facilities 15/08/2017

We stayed here in July 2016 and it was only when I was booking a campsite for this year that I remembered to do a review. Sorry! We loved this campsite. It was peaceful but not too quiet. Our pitch was level and shaded but with some sunshine. The owner was charming, helpful and friendly. He loved to show off his Pinot which he made on site and invited us to a degustation which was great as we met lots of the other campers and got to know some people and got some ideas of what to visit in the area.
The swimming pool was never crowded; much of the time our girls had it to themselves.
Extremely good value for money. Yes there was only one toilet plus a disabled toilet, but strangely enough, this was never a problem. We never had to wait. I think the facilities our adequate for the size of the campsite.
We could order fresh bread and croissants for the morning.

Only 15 minutes drive to central Cognac city. The owner is jolly and very helpful. He also produces his own Cognac and Pineau which he sells from his house/office/cellar. Bread and croissants can be ordered from him for next day breakfast. Clean and good size swim pool. Conveniently placed electric sockets. Excellent very hot and very powerful showers. Good 'wash-up' area. Very good value all round.

    Disliked:

Distance of swim pool to camp site - 100 meters along the road.

We was greeted on arrival by Annick who spoke enough English to sort us out. We got set up and was happy with where we was. The pitches are not marked out but they give you enough space to be comfortable. The facilities are within keeping of the site. Rustic but very good and kept spotless. Patrick the owner only speaks French and we don't speak hardly any but he was very patient and tried to converse every day and was very keen on customer satisfaction. Cognac is very close by and worth a visit.
We couldn't fault the site really and would stay again. It's not a massive site but we have a twin axle and had plenty of room.
