Location, location, location – in this case, not thrice for luck but for three rather excellent aspects of Camping de l’Abbatiale's position in Oise. Firstly, its proximity to main roads makes it a handy stopping-off point for those on long north-south journeys across the country. Secondly, day trips to Paris are excellently easy thanks to the nearby public transport that can whisk you to the capital in just over an hour (negotiating the city’s infamous traffic – no thank you). And lastly, should you choose to stick around for a while, you’re near plenty of attractions, including the splendid Château de Chantilly and Parc Astérix. What you’ll not find here is a whole heap of noisy entertainment; partiers had best keep on rolling as this peaceful place is more suited to those seeking a quieter spot in which to rest their head for a night or a few. A playground caters for the kids, and there’s also space for all ages to let off steam at the football pitch or launch a few balls at the pétanque court. Feel free to bring a barbecue for an alfresco feast before you settle into your slumbers, or keep things simple by dining at the on-site restaurant. A couple of supermarkets (a big one and a budget store for the euro-conscious) are five minutes’ drive away for all the necessities.

Liked This was such an unexpectedly great site! Just stayed one night before Asterix, both the guys running this place are brilliant. Very friendly. Nice atmosphere with other happy campers.

Extremely clean shower block with warm water. a very clean AIR CONDITIONED! restaurant / cafe with bar and games. Very good value for money!

Will definitely come back here and stay 2 nights next time when in the area. We stayed at a variety of sites on our trip and sometimes it’s the simple cheaper ones which surprise you & have a really nice vibe.

Play area well positioned in front of bar / cafe terrace so kids are in view while you have a drink. Campsite dog very cute & friendly. Large pitch, private & other campers staggered around to increase privacy further.

Liked Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The toilet facilities were beautifully clean and well equipped. Peaceful environment and only 25 minutes from Park Asterix. Carrefour nearby, would definitely use again.

Liked Really quiet and peaceful campsite. Only saw a handful of people while we were there. A nice calm base close to train stations for a trip into Paris. We also took a walk into the local town to see the Abbey. Showers/toilets basic but nice enough and no extra charge.

Disliked Woman in reception was a bit cold but apart from that we didn’t dislike anything.

Recommend to friends Visit again

Stayed for 3 nights to visit Paris but Chantilly was a nice suprise.

Fancy stretching the legs after a long drive? Head out into the surrounding Oise-Pays de France Regional Natural Park for family-friendly walking routes (signposted to reduce map-based bickering, fairly flat and of suitable lengths for little legs). Bike routes, bike hire and horse riding (from Chantilly) are also nearby, as is the gorgeous Château de Chantilly, which is around a 10-minute drive from the site. Further fun times can be had at the leisure centre in Saint-Leu d’Esserent five minutes’ drive away, where there's canoeing, fishing, a swimming pool and a synthetic ice rink. If you’ve got small people in tow, head for the rides, shows and animal attractions at Parc Astérix, half an hour away. You can drive to Paris in around an hour but many folk prefer to drive to the local station (five minutes) and take the train for a stress-free journey to the capital’s many famed attractions.
