  • Family-focused site 500 metres from the ocean
  • Recreational and sporting activities organised all year round
  • Balneotherapy facilities, sauna, spa and waterpark on site
An unwinding time will be had by all at family-friendly Camping Le Bel Air, a short drive from the fab Vendée seaside town of Les Sables d'Olonne – and a 500-metre amble from a lush Atlantic coast beach. There's enough to do here to keep all tastes occupied for aeons, including 'the cleanest pool facilities I've seen anywhere' as lauded by one chuffed former guest: this spectacular waterpark is brimming with waterslides, waterfalls, slides, Jacuzzis and rapids around its sizeable outdoor pool and paddling pool setting. If you're a sensible sort, you'll probably spend most of your site time in the pool, perhaps including the occasional clamber out to soak up some sun from the adjacent loungers, but some/much time should be carved out for pampering too, at the Bel Air balneotherapy facilities, sauna or spa. The friendly team organises recreational and sporting activities all year round, and runs entertainment all day and into the evening: pick from the kids’ club, teens' club, sports tournaments, pétanque tournaments, archery, soirées and themed nights, music and karaoke. Also on site for your leisurely pursuits are a games room and a playground, a miniature golf course, a multisports court, a skate park and a whole heap more… go forth and see it all for yourself on a lengthy sunny stay. Food of all sorts is, of course, all covered, at the snack bar and pizzeria, both with takeaways available, and the well-stocked shop selling fresh bread, pastries, croissants and baguettes alongside general groceries and newspapers.

Electric grass pitch

Liked The Reception staff, the random Beatles tribute act and the bar.

Disliked Toilet/shower facilities could do with being updated, a little grotty for a camp site that is similar to Haven in Britain.
Would’ve appreciated being told that men’s board shorts are not allowed in the swimming pool before we had got our feet into it.

Belle Air Camping just didn’t match up to its own hype, poor choice

Electric grass pitch

Liked Pro’s
• Great pool complex (over restrictive on swim wear)
• Food/Drink on site till late
• Entertainment (finishes at 23.00 hrs)

Disliked Con’s
• Over 200 pitches, 8 Toilets
• No hot water in one of the Sanitary blocks
• No hand washing/hand soap in any of the Sanitary blocks (2)
• On one day no toilet paper in 3 of the 8 toilets all day
• One block no lighting in the day, toilets in darkness
• Flooring in one of the blocks wet in the morning; to use the toilet you need to take your shorts off so they didn’t get wet.
• Toilet floor in the swim area wet, you can’t wear anything on your feet, didn’t know what I was standing in?
• Walk way in/out has wooden boarding on the side of the building, where the joins are metal strips stick out, this is from small child height upwards
• 2 pitches next to the football/basketball area, quite in the day but very noisy at night, we had youths playing load music and the thud of the ball till 23.30 on our last night, we needed to be up early. No security guard could be found, there didn’t seem to be any.

Liked Excellent pool complex. Washing facilities clean and modern. Lots for kids to do

Disliked Wi-Fi at 13 euros for 2 days is extortionate and doesn’t even work. Use your 4G if enough data. Works well.

Electric grass pitch

Liked A very warm welcome by Luc and his son. Very helpful, friendly, accommodating and cheerful.

Disliked Our pitch was next to a busy main road which meant it was very noisy and didn’t sleep much. The last night was horrendous as there were roadworks taking place immediately outside which made it worse.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Very private pitch with a lot of space on our pitch, however surrounding semi-static homes seem very tight and packed in.
That said, great facilities on site, very child focused, nice walk into the town, superb outdoor and indoor pool. Even in poor weather the outside pool was still great.
Nice bar on-site. Kids loved the waterslide in the pool.

Disliked Nothing.

Electric grass pitch

Liked It was a good place and was easy and relax. Pool was nice, and people in animation were very friendly

Disliked There was no toilet paper in toilets. Which I feel is strange, like no one will steal toilet paper if you keep toilet paper in toilets. They didn't let me friend to enter the pool with the swimming shorts and insisted on only swimming trunks. Which is very stupid. It's just a different kind of swimming shorts.

Local attractions

Scenic countryside, beaches, lush forests and protected sand dunes are all around, for forest hikes, swims, or potters around Chateau d'Olonne's handsome coastal path. Several waymarked footpaths and bike trails start from near the site. At Les Sables d'Olonne, wander along some of its three-kilometre length of beach, or promenade along to the town's harbour to the fishing ports or to arrange boat trips out into the Atlantic. The town's also home to the Sealand Aquarium of Noirmoutier; for more fishy facts, drive 10 minutes or so along the coast to famed aquarium The Seventh Continent at Talmont Saint Hilaire. Casinos, golf courses and watersports of all sorts are also available in the area – or there's that splendid waterpark back at base…
