Holidays are all about taking it easy, right? That’s certainly the mindset at Camping Les Flots Bleus, a Vendée site with well-equipped accommodation and heaps of facilities and activities provided on site to make everything seem effortless. And there’s more… because this site is a mere 200 metres from the beach, so even seaside days are hassle-free.
This excellent location is in La Faute-sur-Mer, about 15 minutes' walk from the village’s restaurants and bars. It's a nice stroll, but you won't have to venture that far if you don’t want to, as the site has its own restaurant and snack bar, and each of the caravans has a kitchen area where you can cook your own meals whenever you fancy.
The beach is easy to get to – you need only take a short walk through the dunes to get to the sands for a swim, some watersports or a sunset stroll. But again, you don’t even have to go that far if you’re not feeling up to it. Simply stick around on site and head to the heated pool (covered or open air, depending on the weather), which has a kids’ pool and a sun terrace as well as the main pool, which hosts aquatic activities in high season.
Need something more to keep you all busy? How about a game of pétanque, table tennis or something at the multisports court? In summer, there's also an activity programme offering things like outdoor gym classes, sports tournaments and a kids' club (for ages 4-10). In July and August, there are a couple of evenings of entertainment each week to add to your schedule as well – perhaps live music or themed evenings.

Local attractions
You may not make it further than the beach while you're staying here, but it is worth getting out into your immediate surroundings – particularly for a walk or bike ride through the nearby Pointe d'Arcay Nature Reserve, a landscape of dunes and marshes with lots of wildlife.
For a little more adrenaline, take a short drive to Atlantic Wake Park or the rides of Luna Park (both five minutes’ drive). Younger kids may well enjoy the rides and soft play at L'île aux Pirates (10 minutes), and there are beginner pony rides at Les Poneys D'ô Village (15 minutes). For older kids and grownups, there are plenty of surf schools and bike hire places along the coast, or speedy races at Vendée Kart Circuit (20 minutes).
Further afield, you could explore the Marais-Poitevin Regional Natural Park, venture to La Rochelle (an hour) or check out the spectacular Puy du Fou theme park (an hour and a quarter).
