Set five minutes’ stroll from the centre of pretty-as-a-picture Jard-sur-Mer, a lively South Vendée coastal village with shops and three weekly markets, Camping Parfums d’Été is a leafy site tucked under the canopy of a pine and holm oak forest. It’s also within walking distance of the yacht marina and several splendid Atlantic beaches, and around an hour’s drive from the fabled shows at Puy du Fou theme park. This family-owned spot is dedicated to delivering carefree and happy holidays to all comers; its list of facilities includes a heated outdoor swimming pool and a paddling pool for toddlers, a multisports field for ball games, and that vital addition to any French site – a pétanque court. Fun activities at the kids’ club are run by the friendly entertainment team, giving parents a chance to relax during the day, and at night there’s entertainment for all the family down at the marina. Back at base camp, you can eat in the restaurant overlooking the pool, or stock up on basic provisions and get busy rustling up meals on your barbecue (gas barbecues can be hired on site, which will make your luggage that bit lighter).

Liked Situation géographique du camping, on peut tout faire en vélo (Centre ville, différentes plages, port, ballade + ou - reculée). Zen attitude et calme générale dans le camping. Propreté des lieux. Eco responsabilité du camping.

Disliked Léger manque d'activité au sein du camping. Un billard serait top !! Un service de bar/restauration avec des amplitudes plus grandes mais restauration excellente

Liked Swimming pool was great, restaurant food was tasty, toilets and showers kept clean, small football pitch for kids.

Disliked Tents were in wooded areas that had lots of mosquitoes and was also very dusty.

Disliked Seasonal pitch holders around us made us feel extremely uncomfortable. We had paid for 4 nights and left after 2.

Liked The reception staff were so helpful, when we had our car break down. And the pitch we were originally allocated was not suitable for the size of our caravan. They immediately looked at more suitable pitches we could have.
Shower and toilets always clean.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Liked Cycle trails near by as is the port. They were importing sand to supplement the towns beach whilst we were there. Town pretty but a warren of no through roads for traffic. Need to use Google maps.

Disliked Many of the pitches were very narrow and deep. You were very close to your neighbours and no open aspect or views. Perhaps too much shade? Lots of flies. Rather spread out scruffy site. Only one set of loos/ facilities at one end of the site. No Internet unless you paid 20 euros for 2 days.

While younger kids will be happy with the soft-play centre at Parc de Loisirs des Sablotins (20 minutes’ drive), you’ll have no peace from your tweens or teens until you take them to Puy du Fou (just over an hour) to see the ancient Roman, Viking and medieval-themed shows with a cast of thousands (both human and animal). When you all feel the need to get rid of pent-up energy, options include the floating obstacle courses and waterslides at O’Fun Park (25 minutes), or windsurfing on Plage de Boisvinet (20 minutes’ walk). Other child-centric ideas for days out include a trip to see big cats at the Parc Zoologique des Sables d’Olonnes (25 minutes’ drive), or to spy a T-Rex on the dinosaur trail at Le Château des Aventuriers (15 minutes). For more sedate pursuits, stroll along the marshy shoreline of the Estuaire du Payré en Vendée to visit the local oyster farms, and then lunch on some of their produce at seafood shacks in the waterside village of La Guittiere (both 15 minutes).
