There's no city noise at Camping Le Deffay, a peaceful wildlife haven set on the edge of a calm pond in Loire-Atlantique. Run by welcoming hosts Jean Pierre and Nadia, this peaceful place instead has stunning views of the green countryside and plenty of country air and birdsong. Yes, this is a splendid spot for fans of nature or families looking to properly unwind while still staying within reach of Nantes (50 minutes' drive), La Baule-Escoublac (35 minutes) and Vannes (40 minutes). After a little morning relaxation, you may want to take yourself to the on-site pond, where there are plenty of fish ready to take bait. If that doesn't tickle your fancy, stroll to the heated outdoor swimming pool instead, where there is a large deck and a paddling pool for the little kids. If you still have plenty of energy left, perhaps it's also a good time for a spot of activity at the fitness area next to the pond or taking the kids along to the playgrounds or indoor playground. And as you'll need fuel after that, how handy that there's a swish restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor seating... and a grocery shop and bread ordering service for supplies, breakfast and picnics.

Fully-serviced grass and earth touring pitch

Liked Very friendly welcome which extended to the whole stay. Lovely large pitches, clean toilets and showers. We stayed just as the bar and restaurant were opening for the season, had a very warm welcome and a delicious meal. Nearly forgot, the pool is great too.

Liked L'accueil, très chaleureux.
Lorsque je suis arrivé, il faisait bien chaud, j'ai demandé s'il serait possible d'aboir un emplacement ombragé, le gérant a accédé à ma demande, et m'a proposé l'emplacement probablement le plus ombragé de tout le camping 🙂...
Les sanitaires, propres et fonctionnels (attention, un seul bloc, donc il peut y avoir un peu de marche, mais ça reste correct)
La piscine, dont j'ai pu bénéficier seul le matin (chanceux !)...
Le petit plan d'eau en contrebas des emplacements, qui donne une ambiance vraiment sympa en soirée...

Disliked La "platitude" des emplacements... Étant en camping car, j'ai dû sortir les cales... Une majorité des emplacements est situé à flanc de colline, donc pas forcément toujours très plat...(Ce n'est pas l'Alpe d'Huez non plus, heureusement 🙂)...
L'emplacement de la piscine, du bar et du resto, légèrement séparés du camping...

Liked Great weather, fabulous site - we were lake side. Restaurant and bar very friendly people, lovely lady served us.. Our stay included a slightly grumpy goose, we named her Gertie. We found her ok if ignored or spoke to her nicely oh, and bread!!
Bathrooms clean and tidy, site tidy. Wifi is very random, my connection good, husband's rubbish. Would recommend.

Animations en dehors du camping pour garder au calme, piscine à toute proximité, assez de sanitaires et douches, coin vaisselle à part, grandes machines à laver et sèches linge, douche et sanitaire PMR, et baignoire avec plan de change bébé. Liked Our stay at Le Duffy was one of the highlights of our trip, stunning setting pitched next to the lake very peaceful and relaxing. Facilities and presentation of the site was of the highest standards and the pool was just the icing on the cake that’s why we stayed longer than planned. The hosts were welcoming and always willing to help. Just a beautiful campsite that should b a 5/5 we stayed in a few on our travels but this was the most memorable and head and shoulders above all the rest.

Local attractions

Boat and barge trips, salt marsh strolls, horse riding and carriage rides are all easily arranged around the Brière Regional Natural Park surrounding Camping Le Deffay, along with the guided hikes that are available from May to October. Drive south for 30 minutes to reach either more salt marshes at Guérande or (and?) the stunning bay and beach at La Baule-Escoublac (35 minutes' drive), one of the longest in Europe and very handsome if golden sand and pine trees are your kind of vibe. In La Baule-Escoublac, get stuck into all manners of watersports, from windsurfing and jet skiing to surfing. An acclaimed golf course is in La Baule too if it's teeing off you're after, and more can be tracked down in Domaine De La Bretesche (10 minutes) and Savenay (20 minutes). The shipbuilding town and big harbour of Saint-Nazaire (30 minutes) is also worth a look, and if you're on holiday with the little squirts, they'll probably like a day at Océarium Croisic (45 minutes).

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Bookings cannot be amended within 7 day(s) of arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Please note there is no lifeguard on duty.
Swimsuits are obligatory and swimming shorts or Bermuda shorts are not permitted.
The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/04 and 30/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Reception

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Safety

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Firearms are not permitted.
Fires, barbecues and/or firepits will not be permitted in dry, windy and/or hot weather conditions.
No charcoal barbecues allowed.
Open fires are prohibited.
Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Vehicles

No vehicle movement between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.
The car is only included in the rate if you are travelling with a touring caravan or a tent. If you wish to bring a car along with your motorhome/campervan please select the extra.
The charging of electric vehicles is not permitted on site.
