Great friendly site 12/10/2017

The location, next to the canal is beautiful and quite peaceful. The site is not huge and has some nice gardens.
We stayed in the budget caravan, as was only one left. It had loads of room and everything we needed.
Jean-Daniel could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. He gave us his phone number to ring at any time and visited once a day.
Our neighbours were retired French couple who spend all season here and we're really friendly, even giving us home grown tomatoes.
We would visit this site again as it is only 30 mins from Dunkirk ferry, 30 mins from Belgium and in an excellent position to explore the area, which is well worth it.

    Clean facilities
    Relaxed atmosphere
    Pitches are relatively private
    Owner speaks good English

The site is in a fairly remote location and the pitches are separated with shrubs and hedges so that each one feels quite private. There's only one shower room but this wasn't an issue for us as it's a fairly small site so we didn't have to wait to use it. The toilets and shower are basic but clean. The temperature control on the shower was decent enough to get two fussy kids through it. There aren't any activities on the site but we weren't expecting any. The site was very peaceful (apart from our excited children). We hope to return for a longer stay.
There is a canal opposite so it's wise to bring some insect repellent.

Location - peaceful, close to the nature.
The owner (Daniel) was very friendly and willing to support us.
Decent caravan, however with less level of comfort then in U.K. Common caravan parks.
Only a few kitchen tools and appliances, but enough to prepare meals. No cups found into the caravan, but Daniel gave us some.

    Disliked:

Bed and pillows were very bad.
We get only less than half of toilet paper roll, and although we asked for more we did not get any.
No bin or garbage bag provided.
A lot of disfunctionalities and broken items (received explanation that this is because of end of season).
Although the caravan looks pretty new, is in need of proper cleaning

Peaceful, lovely rural site. Owner kind and very helpful. Beautiful watching the barges pass by on the canal. Easy reach of Calais, Saint-Omer etc. and a small drive to Belgium if you want to see Ypres and the WW1 battlefields. Nearby village has excellent simple restaurant. Not a site if you want swimming pools, club houses and lively entertainment but if you want to relax and have a glass of wine as you watch the sun go down, this is for you.

    Disliked:

Very little to dislike. Slightly better WiFi would have been nice, but it is rural.

Peaceful rural location within half an hour of the ferry ... 29/08/2017

Reviewer's country: United Kingdom James H. Confirmed

  • 2 bedroom static caravan

  • Liked:

Peaceful rural location within half an hour of the ferry port - great for an overnight stop over or a few days before going home.
There is a 'rustic' nature to the location and facilities - do not book this if you are looking for 5* accommodation - its not and is not trying to be. The host speaks fluent English and made this clear though was always attentive to make sure we were happy.
The caravan was basic with limited supply of crockery etc but it was clean with a good shower and brand new fridge.
The kids loved it - far more unusual and exciting than a boring hotel room!

    Disliked:

The mosquitos - the campsite is right next to a peaceful canal which seems to harbour killer mozzies!

Best described as "half-wild" camping. Quiet area, out of the way but close enough to villages and towns. Friendly welcome and given choice of pitches. Owner would have been happy to cook if he knew when we were arriving in advance. Bring your own toilet roll.

Thank you everybody for the good reviews ! This year the green is not looking so nice after a very dry spring .Only clovers and weeds has grown . We had last night a lady extremely disapointed because of a cat regurgitated under the beds in her caravan . I am so sorry for that. Nothing is perfect .This is a half wild camping very close to mother nature, not a joke ! Order your food the day before in case you need food once arriving on site . Keep coming ,almost everybody is welcome ...
