- Cosy gypsy caravans on a five-hectare site in the Causses du Quercy
- A 20-minute walk to Gouffre de Padirac; 20 mins' drive to Rocamadour
- Private bathroom and kitchen for each caravan; outdoor pool on site
There really is rather a lot to like about this glamping site in the Lot region. For starters, as the name suggests, the location of Les Roulottes du Petit Gouffre de Padirac is extremely handy for visits to the amazing Gouffre de Padirac (about 20 minutes' walk away).
That’s not the only bonus of this location though – this spot up in the north of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park is also handy for visits to places like Rocamadour, Monkey Forest and Collonges-la-Rouge, as well as all sorts of hikes, canoe trips and other outdoor activities in the area often known as ‘the Land of Wonders’.
So that’s a big thumbs-up to the area – but it’s backed up by an excellent setup on site too. Guests here will be staying in cosy and characterful gypsy caravans at a five-hectare site with plenty of space to relax in the fresh air.
Each caravan sleeps up to four people, with beds made up ready for your arrival and a shower and toilet within the caravan. Heating, wifi and electricity are all included too, as is a well-equipped kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.
There's plenty of space to relax inside your caravan too, although if the weather’s good you’ll probably want to spend a fair amount of time outside – how handy, then, that there’s a table and barbecue outside each caravan, and a swimming pool where guests can sunbathe or take a refreshing dip.

Local attractions
For many visitors, it’s the natural wonders that really stand out around here – and with good reason. A trip to the Gouffre de Padirac (20 minutes’ walk) is a must, to see the huge subterranean cavern, the underground lakes and the river that runs through.
Back up at surface level, there are lots of excellent hikes around (the woodland trail that takes you up to Autoire waterfall, 10 minutes’ drive away, is a favourite) or you could hire canoes to paddle along the Dordogne river (15 minutes' drive). Monkey Forest and the Animal Park of Gramat (both 20 minutes) are good options for animal spotting and kids’ days out.
Along with all the natural landscapes are some fabulous towns to visit – Rocamadour (20 minutes) has a dramatic cliffside setting, medieval houses and a central set of steps known as Le Grand Escalier, while Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (an hour), high up on a hilltop above the river and packed with historic buildings, is like something out of a fairytale.
