Camping Moulin de Laborde

- Rural setting with several medieval villages nearby
- Pool, paddling pool and small lake with rafts and boats
- Cycling and hiking trails starting from the site
Off to the Lot? Lace up your walking boots and prepare your most determined cycling face, for there's lots of both to get stuck into around this pretty and peaceful site.
Hiking and biking trails start from around this scenic Midi-Pyrénées setting and its rural locale of woodland and medieval villages. There's mountain biking around here too, free tennis on the courts in Montcabrier village within a couple of kilometres, and horse riding to be found nearby.
If you're more of a watery disposition, the Thèze river runs alongside Camping Moulin de Laborde and the kayaking and canoeing of the Lot river is about eight kilometres away. Even more niftily, the small lake on site has rafts and boats for kids: that should keep small sorts busy for quite some time…
More water is at the well-sized pool on site, and the paddling pool set separately with plenty of play space around it. Out of the water, kids can whirl around the play area, tackle the grownups at table tennis and pétanque, or whizz balls around the volleyball courts and football area.
For meals and drinks, make for the Moulin de Laborde bar and restaurant, to have indoors or on its pretty terrace. A grocery shop is on site too.

Local attractions
Tackle all manner of outdoor activities around the site, such as trout fishing and canoeing on the river Lot (eight kilometres), horse riding (15 kilometres), or mountain biking and hiking in the surrounding woods and the several trails that start directly from the site.
Pedalling of a more long-distance sort can be hand along the nearby Veloroute, around the Lot valley and the Cahors vineyards on a 165-kilometre route (do note though that the trail includes some roads). Access the Veloroute from the old town of Puy l'Évêque seven kilometres away, after a potter around first to see the famed old houses, courtyards and buildings including the Convent of the Capucins, the 14th-century Château de Lychairie Basse and the Saint Michel Chapel.
Villefranche-du-Périgord and Albas are also well worth investigating locally for those who like medieval villages, the former for its handsome central square and the latter for its wine festivals and the view of the town and surrounding cliffs from a few hundred metres before its entrance.
A 10-minute drive will take you to the 13th-century Château de Bonaguil, on a steep promontory in the town of Saint-Front-sur-Lémance.
