Peaceful, rural and very, very green – L'Oasis des Pyrénées is a wonderful spot for a chilled-out Hautes-Pyrénées break with your partner, your family, your pals or even just your good self. There’s a friendly family atmosphere at this site, and just the right amount of leisure facilities to keep everyone nicely busy without it all getting too noisy and busy. You’ll be able to play games of table tennis or pétanque in the shade of the trees, cook your dinner at the barbecue area (with a gorgeous view, it must be said…) or head to the bar/snack bar area for cool drinks, ice creams and quick meals. Handily, it also sells breakfasts to help get your day off to a tasty start. The surrounding area offers up plenty of outdoor activities, including fishing and walks at Lac de Puydarrieux, a kilometre away, watersports at Lake Castelnau-Magnoac and bike rides on Cycle Route 82, the Baïse Valley trail. A little further afield, you may like to tackle a climb at Pic du Midi or have a rather gentler time strolling around the religious monuments of Lourdes. Winter guests can also head to several ski resorts close by. On the practicalities front, there’s a wifi service and a bathroom block (with accessible facilities) on site, and you can pick up food supplies or find places to eat in Castelnau-Magnoac, 10 minutes’ drive away.

Liked Flat pitch with suspended shade provided. A couple of interesting places to walk. Great for eclipse viewing in 2026

Disliked The area of the site we were in was too well lit (other areas really dark with subtle lights - not our part!)
Local amenities lacking - very poor supermarket (low or non existent stock across the board), rude service at the only place we could find a meal on a Monday evening.

Liked Very quiet site, good new facilities. Access to the river was very useful in the heat. Only approx 10 pitches, half and half electric/non electric. Reasonably flat pitches, great views. Friendly owners, limited English.

Disliked Beware there is a lot of nature in this site, come prepared for insects galore, free ranging chickens (not a problem if you just let them get on with pecking insects from the floor) and a (friendly) dog that will come and visit your camp at will.
Only one of each toilet, basin and shower.

Local attractions

The setting of this site is lovely, but you’ll surely want to get out to explore a bit more of your surroundings. Lac de Puydarrieux (15 minutes’ walk) is a good place to start, whether you fancy some fishing or just want to take a waterside walk. There are more of those lakeside strolls at Lake Castelnau-Magnoac (10 minutes’ drive), which also has a fitness trail and watersports as well as swimming spots. Venture a little further into the Pyrenees and you can sign up for all sorts of exciting adventures including canyoning and rafting. There’s also the option to tackle high-ropes courses at N'CO Park (25 minutes) or descend underground at Gouffre d’Esparros (40 minutes). For some town time, head to Tarbes (45 minutes) to visit the Jardin Massey and Haras National de Tarbes, or continue on to Lourdes (an hour), an atmospheric town packed with religious sites like the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and Massabielle Grotto.
