- Peaceful family campsite on the banks of the River Tarn in Aveyron
- Roquefort-sur-Soulzon 15 minutes’ drive; Millau Viaduct 20 minutes
- Play area with bouncy castle; private river beach and swimming pool
Occitanie’s Camping La Cascade is tucked into the Raspes du Tarn Valley in the Aveyron. Sitting on the banks of the Tarn, this waterside site is 10 minutes’ walk away from the gorgeous and fortified medieval village of Saint-Rome-de-Tarn.
Camping La Cascade’s private grassy beach is the gateway to fishing or wild swimming on the Tarn, and you can take boats out on the water too. More extreme activities are all available locally, including climbing, canyoning and paragliding.
Back on site, kids can have a jump around on the bouncy castle, while you may prefer to laze away afternoons at the pool – which has spectacular views over the Tarn gorge – basking in the Aveyron sun and then cooling off with a dip in the water. Later on, have fun making new friends at evening events and activities held throughout July and August.
Now for the practical bit: pitches all have electric hook-ups, and the bunch of handy family-friendly amenities include showers, a launderette and a basics shop. Please also note that the site is located on a steep hillside and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility.

Local attractions
With the River Tarn just steps away from your pitch, the anglers and wild swimmers in your midst will be well happy to hang out around Camping La Cascade’s private beach, while boaters can hire kayaks, pedalos or paddleboards on site and make their way downriver to the spectacular Cascade des Baumes waterfall (10 minutes’ paddle).
There’s plenty of action for keen walkers too, as the campsite is in the sprawling Grands Causses Regional Natural Park, an area popular for hiking through valleys and forests. You can also explore the limestone escarpments and deep gorges of the UNESCO-listed Larzac Plateau (half an hour) on foot or by bike.
If you’d like to tick off a bucket-list national landmark, you can view the stunning span of Norman Foster’s Millau Viaduct (20 minutes) from an observation deck overlooking the Tarn Valley. Another well-known name in these parts is Roquefort-sur-Soulzon (15 minutes), the medieval hill village home of several fromageries and cellars where you can sample the namesake blue-veined sheep’s cheese.
