Route directions

Coming from Paris: On the A75 take the exit signposted Saint-Flour and follow the signs to Espalion/Rodez. Ignore the signs to Entraygues. In Laguiole continue on the D541 towards Soulages/Bonneval, then Touluch. After Touluch, continue towards Saint-Amans-des-Cots and turn left signposted La Romiguière. Follow the road to the lake. Coming from Rodez: Follow directions to Espalion, then take the D920 towards Estaing. In the village centre turn right towards Saint-Amans-des-Cots (D97). Drive through the Nayrac and follow signs to Barrage de la Selve (a dam). Continue for approximately 2km and turn right signposted La Romiguière. Follow the road through La Cappelle and continue along the lake up to the campsite.

Local attractions

Diving, waterskiing, jetskiing and fishing are easy to access from here, along with local hiking and cycling paths. Camping La Romiguiere's nearest village is Laguiole, the Midi-Pyrénées commune famed for its knives as well as its AOC cheese devised by local monks in the nineteenth century. Tours of the forge are available at the knife factory, the most famed attraction in the village (you'll likely covet a Laguiole knife after this; if you want a collectors' one, have a thousand euros or so going spare). Round and about, Espalion is 19km from Laguiole and Estaing 20. You could also get out to snap pics at the Cascade du Saut du Chien waterfall; the Château du Vallon and the ruins of Chateau de Thénières; spectacular Truyère valley, and Bez-Bedene, the high-up settlement above the Selves river. Several regional markets are within driving distance, such as Sainte-Genevieve-sur-Argence 15 kilometres from Laguiole, Espalion at 19 kilometres, and the markets at Chaudes-Aigues, Entraygues and Mur-de-Barrez, all 23 kilometres from the village.
