Well, what a spectacular spot. With a backdrop of the forested Pyrenean foothills, the leafy holiday park at Domaine La Taillade de Montségur sits in the village of Fougax-et-Barrineuf, and has direct access to walking or cycling in the untamed, mountainous department of Ariège. Sitting on large plots, accommodation is in luxurious wooden chalet-style lodges. Sleeping between two and eight guests in a combination of double and sofa beds (all bedding and towels are supplied), each has a living and dining area with a TV for downtime, a bathroom with shower and a separate loo. Well-equipped kitchens come with gas hobs, fridge/freezers, microwaves and toasters, coffeemakers for a morning caffeine hit and all the bits and bobs you need for family meals in the cosy dining area. Outside, the lodges all have sheltered wooden decks as well as small gardens planted with flowers and lined by trees. Shared on-site facilities include the swimming pool (get an eyeful of those mountain views while you’re doing your lengths), a games room for family challenges at table football, and a sun-trap terrace for leisurely picnics.

Liked Atendimento excelente, piscina boa, lugar bonito e tranquilo. Boa relação custo benefício.

Disliked Só tem um banheiro para todos os campistas ( homens e mulheres no a usar o mesmo banheiro ) . Só tem uma pia para lavar a louça e as roupas na mesma pia e fica dentro do banheiro . Isso é um absurdo. Muita falta de higiene. Não é possível. Poucos lugares com sombra.

Liked La tranquilidad y la ubicación para lo que yo buscaba.

Disliked Sólo había un baño, una ducha y un fregadero para todo el camping y todo junto, por lo que se hacían colas. La cafetería no estaba abierta de mañana. Pagué la electricidad y no pude disponer de ella porqué los enchufes sólo estaban en una parte y si no llevas cable largo no puedes conectar y tampoco te facilitan uno.

nous sommes une aire de camping-car, donc pas de sanitaires, mais vous pouviez vous ravitailler en eau et vidanger.
Vous avez installé une toile de tente alors que ce n’était pas autorisé.

Local attractions

Anyone into history will probably be keen to get to Château de Montségur (15 minutes’ drive). Grab a pair of walking boots for the trek up to this 13th-century Cathar castle atop a rocky outcrop; it’s steep but worth it for the far-reaching views over the Ariège hills to the Pyrenees. If you’d like to see some artefacts excavated at the ruined castle, you’ll find cannonballs and pottery fragments in the small museum in Montségur town hall (also 15 minutes). Experienced mountain bikers can follow the challenging Green Line circuit (eight hours by bike) departing from Mirepoix (40 minutes’ drive, check out its medieval centre while you’re there), while hikers get lucky too with scrambles up to Pic du Midi from Roquefeuil (25 minutes), and testing jaunts through the Gorges du Touyre, starting in Belloc (half an hour). If the kids need a day off from all that activity, make for Prehistoric Park (45 minutes) to see dioramas of the bison, mammoths and lions that once roamed the Pyrenees. Alternatively, you can all tour Lombrives Cave (also 45 minutes) to spot the limestone formations and subterranean lake.
