General

  • Peaceful lakeside site with direct access to a sandy beach
  • Limoges city and Reynou zoo a short drive away
  • Waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing and lake swimming, and outdoor pool

Watersports bods and beach bums will be bowled over by the spiffing location of this lovely spot: surrounded by greenly scenic countryside, Camping de Fréaudour is settled splendidly on the shores of Saint-Pardoux lake, which means that you’re within ambling distance of a lush lake beach and speedy water-based pursuits like as waterskiing and wakeboarding, as well as fishing and swimming au naturel.

Fréaudour is just over half an hour’s drive to the lovely department capital of Limoges, and a zoo is in Reynou, 20 minutes further south of the city. The locale is brimming too with celebrations of all things medieval happening in and around fine châteaux like Lastours, Rochechouart, Châlucet and Montbrun, all reachable in around an hour or less by car, so you’ll have your fill of historical attractions while here too.

There’s plenty on site to please all ages: as well as direct access to the lake’s shoreline there’s also a pool to lie alongside while offspring partake in yet more waterside fun, and a playground, pool tables and tennis and pétanque courts are on site too for fun spells out of the water. During July and August, the site team also organises fun events and activities to keep summer-season guests plenty entertained during their stay.

Pick up freshly baked breads and sweet treats from the on-site bakery, or grab something more filling from the restaurant, to be washed down with a tipple or two from the bar. Barbecuing is also an option here, for which supplies to grill and sizzle can be procured from the park’s grocery store.

The accommodation areas are roomy, and all the mature trees and hedges dotted about the grounds offer plenty of partial shade to sunned-out guests. Three sanitary blocks are around too, so you’ll never have to go far when in need of a comfort break or shower.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

The lake was drained at the end of August 2017, therefore fishing will not be available from the beginning of September. The work is due to finish in spring 2018.

The weather was great and the local community walk around the lake is beautiful and well maintained. The lake is warm and well stewarded by community lifeguards who are very switched on.

    Disliked:

This site may have been 4 star in the past but the decor and cold pool area is tired with damaged pool edges. Our stay didnt start well as we had to wit for the reception to open after lunch which was the first time we encountered this in 3 weeks in France. We didn't use the restaurant however we spoke with neighbouring caravanners who ate there and the only thing on the menu (for adults or children) was chicken nuggets or the mussels which were part of a special evening event. They waited 1 1/2 hours to be served and ended up leaving before eating! The washing up areas are also outdated and prone to spillages albeit of cold or tepid water only.

Large, clean pitches with lovely views over the lac du St Pardoux. Warm and clear pool and nice restaurant and bar. Good toilet and shower facilities in a choic of 3 blocks. Direct access to the lake and it's beach. Enjoyable fishing within 3 miles nuts walk. Friendly mix of guests from UK, France, Germany and Netherlands. A very peaceful stay.

    Disliked:

Go prepared as the nearest supermarket is 10km down very narrow country roads. Second night a group of young lads set up in the pitch next door and they were a little bit loud (although not rowdy). Would have been handy to have freezer block re freezing facility.

Pitch size was good, plenty of trees around pitch so had choice of sitting in sun or shade. Lake with sandy beach area right next to site. Plenty of shower blocks, so never had to wait for a shower. Swimming pool not too crowded. Free WiFi allowed me to keep up with news from home. Very quiet area of France

    Disliked:

Local attractions

The sandy beach of Saint-Pardoux lake is accessible right from the site for sandside lounging or watersports activities like waterskiing and wakeboarding, and a watersports centre is also close by should you wish to try out anything else active on the water.

Take the kids to the zoo in Reynou to meet more than 600 critters across a whopping 130 species from five out of the world’s seven continents; set most prettily around a 19th-century castle, it’s a splendid spot for a family day out, with ambles around its grounds among ancient trees and more than 120 plant species a topping option too.

Over in the city of Limoges, lots of restaurants, markets and shops make for a splendid town-based day out. The martyr village of Oradour-sur-Glane is also well worth exploring while in this part of France: the only site of its kind in Europe, this once-thriving village’s fully preserved ruins are a memorial to the civilians who perished there after it was razed to the ground by invading forces during World War II. For yet more historic spots around the locale, several cracking châteaux lie within an hour’s drive of the site too, including those at Lastours, Rochechouart, Châlucet and Montbrun.
