Green green times are yours for the taking at Camping du Lac, for it's in the green green space of Corrèze, Marcillac-la-Croisille and the Dordogne gorges – rightly famed as a land of stunning landscapes, blue lakes and gently meandering rivers filled with carp, perch and pike. Even better for water adventurers (and beach baskers), Camping du Lac's scenic setting is a minute or two's saunter from Lake La Valette and a small beach for sandy times. A leisure centre lies by the lake for catamaran sailing, canoeing and windsurfing, or for climbing, treetop adventuring and archery on (or above) land. The lake has two main beaches, both supervised in summer. Camping du Lac has a pétanque court, a volleyball and badminton court, a TV and games room, ping pong tables and free wifi. Sports tournaments, entertainment and activities are arranged in July and August. Camping du Lac's nearest town is Marcillac-la-Croisille, two kilometres away.

Liked Fabulous, booked for 1 night and stayed for 2 weeks. Lovely family run campsite set amongst mature trees overlooking a beautiful lake.
Sanitary areas constantly cleaned as was the rest of the campsite.
Lots of lovely places for bike rides.
very peaceful, would recommend with no hesitation.

Liked Location - next to Lake, view was beautiful.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Huge pitches and clean facilities.

Disliked Pitches were generally sloping and uneven needing additional blocks/risers to stabilise and level the caravan.

Liked Beautiful site in a beautiful location.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
We visited at the same time as an annual music festival so there was an evening of loud music, but we took the kids and had fun with the locals.

Local attractions

Make the most of the local landscape by moseying along first to the leisure and outdoor centre by the lake for watersports and land activities, or set off into the surrounding countryside via one of the nearby hiking trails. Climb up to the viewpoint of the rock of Busatier on the Dordogne and Xaintrie gorges for some particularly jaw-dropping scenery (and a picnic): reach it in about 10 minutes' drive from the site from the D18 going in the direction of Nougein. Other outdoor opotions are at the splendid Château de Sédières 15 minutes' drive away, a 14th-century castle surrounded by 130 hectares of forest and ponds. Fishing, orienteering, a mountain biking centre, ATV rentals and several hiking trails are all here, along with exhibitions and tours of the castle if you'd prefer to retreat indoors. For a cooling – and cultural – day, drive 20 minutes to the small and scenic village of Gimel-les-Cascades, just north east of Tulle. Reach the waterfalls from the bottom of Gimel's hill, or stay around town to see its stone houses, medieval castle and the pretty Pont du Péage.
