General
- Comfortable lodges near Brive-la-Gaillarde, overlooking Lac du Causse
- Peaceful hillside setting among 12 woodland hectares
- Heated pool, restaurant and shop, five minutes from Lissac-sur-Couze
Spruce lodges in a sublime hillside setting, with easy access to the Dordogne, the Lot department and the active adventures of the Corrèze and the Lac du Causse... how Limousin lush is the setup at Les Hameaux du Perrier.
If you've ever heard of Brive-la-Gaillarde and its famed market (crooned about by French singer Georges Brassens), you'll know this spectacular south-west part of France – a couple of hours from Bordeaux to the west and Toulouse to the south, within an hour of Périgueux, Rocamadour and Sarlat, with regional natural parks in all directions, and among caves and quarries, colourful valleys and traditional old towns.
And then there's the lake... Les Hameaux du Perrier's handsomely elevated position 240 metres above sea level overlooks the scenic and deep blue waters of the Lac du Causse, a splendid 100 hectares' worth of water for canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, sailing, rowing, fishing and supervised summer swimming. Mountain biking, hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course, a watersports club and a waterpark are all around the lake's shores.
In between lake, market and sightseeing days, restful times at Les Hameaux du Perrier are in well-equipped lodges, all set serenely among trees and countryside with views of the surrounding green hills. Communal facilities for days on site include a heated outdoor pool, a play area and pétanque; there's also free wifi and plenty of space for outdoor idling around the 12 hectares of this mighty peaceful and pretty park.
Les Hameaux du Perrier has a restaurant and a grocery shop. Local commune Lissac-sur-Couze is less than five minutes' drive away.

Nearby Lac du Causse is so well thought of by watersporters that's it's the setting for regular regattas and regular competitions as well as home to the Brive-la-Gaillarde sailing club. Around the shore, take the seven-kilometre Le Circum Lacustre path for a pretty waterside wander, or take the kids to the AquaFun waterpark open in July and August.
Hiking, mountain biking and horse riding trails are all nearby. By car, sightseers are in prime position for some of the most tiptop destinations in France, such as the medieval town of Sarlat and the spectacular Lascaux caves 40 minutes away, and world-famed Rocamadour, the Padirac chasm and the Pompadour National Stud and accompanying castle all within 50.
Also well worth a look are Turenne (25 minutes), the famed sandstone houses of Collonges-la-Rouge (30 minutes) and the valley views and three castles of Curemonte (40 minutes). Brive-la-Gaillarde (25 minutes) is a must-see for its market, held three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.
