If you’re pottering around the Pyrénees-Orientales region in a motorhome or caravan, you should certainly consider making Camping International du Roussillon one of your ports of call. In a handy spot about a mile from Salses-le-Château (about 40 minutes' drive from the Spanish border), this touring site is in a handy location for all sorts of outings, including beach days, lake watersports, walks in the Corbières-Fenouillèdes Regional Natural Park and heritage days in Perpignan. Add in a waterpark, an animal park and a go-kart track, and you should have something to suit pretty much every taste in this area. The well-maintained hardstanding pitches at this site are kept in a secure area free from obstacles, which should make any manoeuvring nice and straightforward. They all have access to water and electric hookups, as well as additional shared facilities including a launderette, a washing-up area, a motorhome service area and toilet blocks (with heated showers in the winter months). The ground is nicely level, so it’s all accessible to guests with reduced mobility, and the bathrooms are wheelchair-accessible as well. Outside of the main season, there’s a peaceful and laidback vibe here; in summer it’s a bit livelier, with the rooftop restaurant opening up from the start of May to the end of October and the swimming pool/paddling pool available from June to September (weather permitting). There’s also the added fun of an entertainment programme in July and August. Dogs are welcome at this site, and there’s a dog park where they can get a bit of exercise.
