Camping Le Lamparo

This spectacular slice of southern France between sea and mountains near the Spanish border is in prime position for beach days, watersports, chateâux and cave visits, city jaunts… all with direct access to the Mediterranean from Sainte-Marie an easy kilometre away. After your (several) beach and site days, turn your attention to the towns and cities within easy reach for day trips: Le Lamparo’s mighty convenient setting is between Leucate, Le Barcarès and Torreilles to the north, all between 10 and 20 minutes’ drive away; Canet-en-Roussillon (five minutes), Saint-Cyprien (15 minutes) and Argeles sur Mer (30 minutes) to the south, and the hugely pretty city of Perpignan 20 minutes away. Other recommended options from the site team include the museums in Collioure and Tautavel 35 minutes away; Château de Castelnou, standing on its rocky outcrop since the 10th century (40 minutes) and medieval Carcassonne, on the banks of the Aude river an hour and 15 minutes away. Over the border, Figueres is an hour’s drive away and Barcelona two and a half hours.
