Familial harmony can never be guaranteed (more’s the pity…) but you can certainly give yourselves a fighting chance of such a situation with a stay at Camping Fagamis, a family-friendly site in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The fab location is the key here: Med swims and watersports are 15 minutes’ drive away (or a short bus ride) at Argelès-Plage; similar journeys will also take you to arty Collioure, to a waterpark or animal park, to historic bits around Perpignan, up into the foothills of the Pyrenees for a scenic hike or bike ride… In short, a lengthy list that should (fingers crossed) have something to keep everyone happy, meaning the only dispute mediation needed will be to sort a schedule for all the attractions and activities. The options-for-all theme continues back at base: active types can keep energy levels up with swims in the pool, time at the playground and games of beach volleyball, while folk who need a bit of downtime can snooze in the shade of the native umbrella pines and cork oaks. A barbecue area’s been set up for self-catering sorts; source supplies at the shops in Saint-Génis-des-Fontaines (a leisurely few minutes’ stroll or bike ride) or sit tight in summer and wait for local producers to pop round with foodie treats. If neither appeals, there are restaurants in town and a snack bar on site, which bops along to live music once a week in high season.

Liked: Noi abbiamo camping con la moto Tutto perfetto,dalla acoglienza al posto in generale. Ce un piccolo ristorante al interno e se vuoi puoi ordinare panetteria appena sfornata per il giorno dopo a colazione. (Che e BUONISSIMA) La zona di campeggio e bella illuminata e con tutta la privacy e silencio che vuoi inmersa alla natura, pero anche a 20min in machina da Collioure e 30min di Argeles sur mer, supermercato raggiungibile a piedi e prezzo fantastico. Che dire, fantastico!!

Liked: Great couple running the site - very friendly and helpful. Good bar area with a nice vibe, decently priced bar snacks (pizza and fries both good), and a free sangria for each person as a welcome. Free wifi around the bar area was excellent and reliable. BBQ area and various sports inc table tennis. Pool area was good. Toilets showers etc always kept very clean.

Disliked: No paper or soap provided in toilets - everyone had to take their own. We found that irritating, particularly the lack of soap or handwash of any kind. Most pitches were sloping a fair bit.

Local attractions

So, to planning that roster of outings… whether you’re planning it all out or just seeing how things go, it’s most likely that at some point you’ll be wanting to meander down to the Mediterranean at Argelès-Plage (15 minutes’ drive). The sandy beach here is a fab place to flop out, but there’s plenty of watersports and scuba diving action too for those who like their coastal days more action-packed. Speaking of action, there’s more of that for those who brave the toboggans, rope ladders and waterfall jumps at Canyoning Park (15 minutes) or prefer to whizz down the waterslides at Aqualand waterpark (20 minutes). Rather leave the antics to the animals? Aim for Turtle Valley animal park (10 minutes) or Saint-André discovery farm (15 minutes). Squeezing in a chunk of culture and history on your hols? Start at Château de Laroque des Alberes (five minutes), before pottering around Perpignan (25 minutes), taking in the Roman sculpture park and Gothic cathedral. Budding painters may like to take their palettes over to Collioure (20 minutes) to see if inspiration hits them in the same way that it did Matisse, Dali and Picasso.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are not allowed if you are staying in the accommodation units.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: €200.00 (£170.77) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.
Your unit must be left clean and tidy; a fine of €80.00 (£68.31) will be charged for unclean units upon departure.

Only park guests are authorised to use the pool.

Reception

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
Reception is open from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. between 07/05 and 30/06 and between 01/09 and 21/09.
Reception is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. between 01/07 and 31/08.

Vehicles
